Bookworm

Greetings, and welcome again.
Thanks for being patient while I continue to deal with unruly computers.

I needed a card for a young man who is developing into a real bookworm, and I could not access my digital images at the time, so this is what I came up with.

The card started with the end (read scrap) of a piece of watercolour paper which I had misted with water, coloured with distress daubers, then misted again.  That piece then dictated the orange card base.

I pulled out a scrap piece of card stock and saw this old greeting stamp used on it, so fossicked around, found it, and gold embossed it, then coloured the balloons with metallic pens.

The background paper is a scrap from an old dictionary page (my friend found it in a garage sale and bought it for me).  I tore and sponged the edges.

The book I drew freehand, and mounted over foam dots to give dimension.  The bookworm is a piece of cord that I cut to measure, whipped the end of, and in the whipping added a couple of beads.  It looks really cute IRL!

The final detail was a bookmark to go with it - I used the same card and paper and simply stamped his name on it with some plain alpha letters and covered it with clear sticky plastic.  The cord is threaded through an eyelet.

Thanks so much for visiting - may your day be blessed.
Thank you too for your comments - they are a real encouragement.

Such a clever card. We have tried Baby rice, carrots and banana. Banana seems to be the fave at the moment. Thanks for reminding me to treasure time with my Mum. You are right on that.
