Planning Ahead

Welcome

I don't usually have a stock of Sympathy cards on hand, but decided to make one today - partially as a sample for a card class project, and partially simply to have one to hand should I need one in a hurry.

I started with a blue base, and embossed the sentiment directly onto it.

I then cut a strip of plain card and embossed it with a folder that came in the (English) Cardmaker magazine recently.  I did sponge some slightly darker ink over it to try and emphasise the embossing, but the contrast was lost once the ink dried.

The flower was cut in three layers - the first and last in patterned paper, and the middle one in white.  All layers were sponged with the same ink I used on the embossed panel.

One rather serendipitous detail was the butterfly on the patterned paper on the top half of the card - I had cut all the pieces of paper for the kits, and took this one as it was on the top.
When I was adding the rhinestones, I decided to make the most of this detail and outlined it with a blue glitter pen and added some bling to the body.

WOW Maxine. I am not crazy for sympathy cards either but this one is over the top and out of the park. Excellent.

Beautiful card Maxine! So perfect that the butterfly was in the right spot to be another focal element on your card.

This is really beautiful, Maxine, and you are SO GOOD at the embossing. I just started stamping again with my new DT position and I plan to pull out my embossing powders and embossing gun soon, so I will have to see how mine turn out (not as well as yours, I'm guessing) but yours inspire me for sure!
Have a blessed week and thanks so much for sharing.
