Welcome
Yes, another dose of butterflies :-)
I started with a piece of paper I had used to "mop up" the surplus from my monoprint a few weeks ago, and love the way the colours had dried on it.
I used the STAMPlorations butterfly stencil to sponge Versamark ink onto the card, then embossed it using white powder. To define the butterflies I sketched around them with a very fine brown micron pigment pen.
The sentiment was stamped and red embossed onto a Spellbinders Fancy Tags Three Die cut that I thought echoed the butterflies - the tag was sponged with Spiced Marmalade DI before removing it from the die.
It looked a wee bit lost, so ran the brown micron pen around it and although it is not immediately visible, it defined and grounded the tag beautifully.

Gorgeous Maxine. Just love the look you achieved with you pretty background. Butterflies are always so pretty. Just love them. Glad you've had time to play... despite all my good intentions, I have only just ventured into the craft room but no time to create. Quick look at FB then back to the kitchen to cook!
ReplyDeleteFabulously gorgeous creation the background is beautiful Maxine and those colours are just as stunning.xx

ReplyDeleteVery pretty! Great colors!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, background so creative. Thanks for joining the DRS designs challenge.
ReplyDeleteIsn't this fun! I love saving my mop-up papers, too. They are always much better than the "designed" papers I prepare, lol! And then thinking of an image to use with them reminds me of those Rorschach tests. Your use of the butterflies is inspired, Maxine!! Hugs, Darnell

ReplyDeleteWhat a great bg - I love the texture and look of this! Thanks for sharing it with us in the DRS Designs Challenge.
ReplyDeleteA lovely way to use up your ´mopping-up´paper. I love all the butterflies on cards right now. All so different yet all so lovely. You have incorporated some good textures on this one, and the outlining of the butterflies and tag was just what was needed, so well done! Kate x
ReplyDeleteThis is hot! Loved that you were able to use your 'mop up' to create this beautiful piece. It's always such fun to be able to use all the products from another project. It worked wonderfully for these summer b'flies. Enjoyed reading the how-tos, and the bold sentiment is just beautiful and complements the other motif colors so well. Looks like a lot of texture too. TFS & have a great week. Hugs
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with butterflies!! This card is absolutely beautiful and the colors you chose gorgeous :) I really love the embossing for the sentiment.
