Maple Leaf Sympathy

Welcome

I made this card for my own use this time - it was difficult to make as I do not know the person it is going to - the wife of a work colleague of DH.

I decided to keep with a simple card, and initially used just the sentiment,

and the leaf and flower embellishment.  The leaf and flower came as part of a RAK from MariLynn DeGroot (of the Mississippi McGyver blog - do pay her a visit, her work is wonderful).

The lines were drawn using a Signo Bronze pen.

It looked rather sparse, and after digging around in my butterfly jar, I found three gold butterflies cut with a sizzex thinlets die, and managed to match the rhinestone on the flower with some from my stash for the butterfly bodies.

The card base is actually a rich cream, but the camera washed it out and I have not been able to adjust it.

I am linking this to:

 - I simply love butterflies!

  6. I like those lines you drew in to make a frame border. You are right that the original bits weren't quite enough. Those butterflies were the perfect touch.

  7. Beautiful card, Maxine. I am sure it will be appreciated, even if you don't know the person. Anyone would love this. The butterfly very much spoke of an ascension to a higher plane and is a beautiful visual metaphor.

  9. Elegant and understated Maxine. Love the gold embossing on the sentiment. It's sure to be greatly appreciated. Had to sneak over and share with you where my designer paper is from on my last make... would you believe The Warehouse?! A lovely heavyweight paper called blossom and it has so many pretty pages. Just had to share as I thought it was a fab find and really well priced considering it's A4 size! Big hugs, Wends x

  12. Hi Maxine, saw this at CAS MU, and it's lovely. I can imagine it was not an easy card since you didn't know the person, but you've done a wonderful look. The textures on these butterflies add an elegance to the design and I think the maple leaf is gorgeous with the way you've tucked on the tiny felt flower. It's graceful and conveys just exactly what this kind of card needs to express. Well done. TFS & Hugs
