Welcome
I have recently seen several cards made with a background using liquid pearls smeared onto card. As I have never had much success with laying liquid pearls and getting a good spherical result, I was pleased to see another way of using them. This is the result of my first experiment.
I started with a piece of shiny card (saved from a pantyhose packet) and put down some drops of white liquid pearls, and smeared all over the card.
I then dropped on pink and deep pink and smeared them lightly, thought it was a bit bland and added gold and was happy with the outcome.
The resulting sheen and texture is wonderful - to my eyes. I then layered over some die cut roses and leaves, and covered the die cuts with WoS to continue the sparkle.
This panel was mounted over ribbon, and dp from a Kaisercraft pad.
I then die cut the edge with S/B Edgibilities dies, and sponged the edge with Fired Brick DI.
On the inside of the card, I ran two strips of washi tape down the edge behind the die cuts.
The sentiment was gold embossed - I am not sure why this photo shows the dp as pink, not red.

Wonderful, such a creative use of the liquid pearls. Thanks for joining us at Moo Mania and More, Valerie
ReplyDeleteAwesome. I've done it where you used scrunched up gladwrap to daub it onto a sponged background. The mixture of colours you have used is perfect.
ReplyDeleteThat looks just beautiful Maxine! So happy you joined us at Moo Mania & More!

What a clever way to use the perfect pearls. I am like you too and find it difficult to get the right shape for 'pearls' so using them for backgrounds would be great. So very pretty and artsy too. Love your card today and thank you so much for the inspiration x
ReplyDeleteHi! This is lovely-- I saw a challenge at HLS last year where they called smearing liquid pearls "faux mother-of-pearl"-- at least that's how I remember it! Very pretty results! Might I recommend Viva brand for liquid pearls (sometimes they are caled paper pearls), they always come out spherical! Thank you for sharing at SOS, see you next time!
ReplyDeleteahhh great idea Maxine well done .. have seen it on Loll's blog where she did die cuts out of the pearlised card too so another great effect, great to use up our stash isnt it?!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to use liquid pearls Maxine!!! I don't do well with making them into pearls either, but have used them to make "wool" on a lamb. lol But I love this idea of making a background with them! Your card turned out beautiful! Love the different colors of liquid pearls you used for it as well as the shiny paper you recycled-clever!!!! Love the flowers and the border as well. Gorgeous card indeed! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteI love this die! You've done a great job with it once again!
ReplyDeleteI bet this just shimmers and shines in real life! Those swirly flowers are so pretty - especially when paired with that opalescent background.

ReplyDeleteI've never thought of doing anything beyond making blobs with liquid pearls. This is an interesting technique. It looks like you've used a palette knife to smoosh paints onto a canvas. It's very cool and you made it into a great looking card.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful card
