My 'invisible' new follower is Sue, of Sue's Card Craft - do pop over and have a look at her wonderful cards. Thank you for following me Sue.
This card was made for a family member who loves lighthouses
I started with the main stamp from Our Daily Bread Designs set Keep My Lamp Burning, and stamped it in Memento London Fog ink on a grey recycled paper from my local printer. I stamped using my Misti, thankfully, as it needed several applications, but even then it is not perfect - I should have been more patient.
This was mounted over a striped paper, which also has a clear sparkling stripe in it. I used my vertical birthday greeting, embossing it in a nautical blue ep.
The silver cord was knotted and adhered and three brads placed in the wide end of the cord.
The brads were initially 'gold', but I tapped them onto my versamark ink pad, then into the blue ep, then heat set it - I repeated this several times. I love the results.

ReplyDeleteLovely stamp and what a lovely result you got using the London Fog. I use that ink pad for figures if I am going to colour them in as it is not as harsh as a Jet Black. It almost looks as if you have hand drawn it in pencil, great result.
ReplyDeleteI keep remembering about the embossing on brads when I read about someone doing it and then I promptly forget to do it myself - love how you co-ordidnated yours.

How do you heat emboss brads without burning off your fingertips? I've tried a pair of pliers but find I tend to drop the brad out of it during the heating process. Anywho.... great birthday cards. Lighthouses go good with strips! It holds the nautical feeling. Nice vertical greeting.

Good idea to get the recycled paper, (yay for Misti, right? ) I like the look of the lighthouse as you've used the image, against the stripe background. Very nautical and 'cold weather' feeling and great idea to change the brad colors as you've described. TFS & Hugs

ReplyDeleteWonderful card dear Maxine, love this image and beautifully carded, I love that you changed your brads colour it's great fun to do that isn't it? I usually use permanent markers.

ReplyDeleteI like the lightly sprayed version better, also, as the colors of blue & gold in the background are more gradually blended. The other version has a sharp demarcation between the colors that just doesn't seem like it could occur naturally. I also like the black silhouetted nativity scene & the cold accents, like the star & the word peace & the angel. I'm envisioning a similar scene done with shiny silver accents, possibly cut either out of mirri card, or heat embossed with silver embossing powder after the pieces are cut. Love the idea, though. I just may have to case it for next year's cards!
