Welcome
It's good to be back - my sabbatical was spent firstly visiting family 'over the ditch' in Australia. While there I was able to contact, and spend some time, with Alicia, who is a lovely, talented and very generous fellow crafter. I then visited the fabulous Lovely Linda who made me most welcome and I had a wonderful four days with her and her family - a real blessing!! I headed home totally broke, with several kilo's more luggage, most of which was craft supplies!
This card was a commissioned one, and the customer wanted a masculine sympathy card.
I concentrated on using texture on a simple layout, embossing the white layer with the Argyle folder.
The sentiment from ODBD Praying For You set was gold embossed, and cut with a Spellbinders classic oval die, sponged, and mounted over a S/B scalloped oval cut in a subdued gold paper.
This was mounted over some burlap ribbon, then onto the embossed layer, then the red base card. The final details were the gold rhinestones.
The inside sentiment was stamped in the Espresso ink used for the sponging - the verse is from the same ODBD used on the front of the card.

Such a lovely sympathy card Maxine love the ones you have used and the texture! Simply stunning! :) Hope you have settled in at home again! :)
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I never thought about a masculine sympathy card but of course. Like everyone, I don't like to make them and you know, most of the time I buy sympathy cards because I never enjoy making them... it's always a sad time. I should do some ahead when I am not thinking in terms of an upcoming funeral but I never do.
ReplyDeleteThis card is perfect and yes, it is masculine. I especially like the burlap... it kind of 'guys it up'.
It's a lovely card Maxine. I think it's just perfect for the sad occasion. So glad you had a lovely time way with your friend. Barbxx
