Welcome
I recently wanted to join the "Mermaid" trend in card making, but I had no stamps. This came about as I had made a very soft chalked background that looked like seaweed, but I had no stamp to use on it, so I enlisted Mr G**gle and found a free image, which I altered to suit my taste.
To make the background I used chalks/pastels through a leaf stencil, colouring first with one colour, sealing it with a burst of hairspray, and then moving the stencil and colouring it with the second colour.
The Thanks was a Simon Says die cut of sparkle paper, and the rest of the sentiment was computer generated.
I coloured the Mermaid image with my Chromocolor pencils, and mounted her over a S/B scalloped circle die cut that I had painted with Semco Mica paints, using green and blue paints to match the background
The final touch were some translucent sequins and 'eyelash' yarn glued to the side of the card - I also glued this inside my card, but the photograph was blurry.
This is the original card which I made as a sample for my class, and the background was much softer, and the layout slightly different, with metallic cord across the bottom and some white Pico dots.
