Monika's Shoe in Red

Welcome

I would love to extend a warm welcome to two new followers - Nenny and Kate.
Unfortunately I cannot find if they publish a blog - probably the grey matter under the grey hairs not functioning well - but if you do have a blog, please let me know so I can pay you a visit and also give you a shout out here.

I while ago Monika sent me a wee gift that included these stamped shoes, so I coloured this one up with my Prismacolor pencils, and then coated the red leather with glossy accents to mimic patent leather.

I sponged the edge of the panel with red ink, and added a layer of lace at the bottom of it,
then mounted onto a water colour paper background that I had marbled with nail polish
(here is a close up of it.)

I wrapped the left side of the background with some hand died seam binding, (a gift from Linda)and attached the sentiment tag with some twine.  The greeting is a very old Hero Arts one and was silver embossed.

This is the final card - which I was very happy with.

I am linking this to:

Used the centre vertical line, plus I made my own patterned paper

  10. Your effects really did look like patten leather! And how sweet of you to show your appreciation for this RAK from Monica. The shoe looks perfectly at home on the wonderful nail polish marbling. Just recently saw a video of that, and yours looks stunning on the w/c paper. It looks quite like the 'handmade' rag paper. Also liked the pretty lace detail with the shoe. Altogether a feminine card, but the background paper made it look quite modern too! TFS & Hugs

  11. Fabulous Maxine. I haven't done my nail polish marbling yet as I got rid of all my odds and ends of nail polish a couple of months ago and only have 1 left. Love the background it made. Love the colour and look of patent leather on the shoe.

  20. Ah, how fun! I remember patent leather shoes! I thought they were the bee's knees! I wonder why they never came back ... too hot, maybe? By that I mean sweaty feet. It's curious. But the one on your card is a good HOT, Maxine, and I love how you have dressed it up further with patterns, lace, and a ribbon for a pretty feminine birthday card!! Hugs, Darnell
