Scripture, Sequins and Alcohol (ink)

Welcome

A warm welcome to my two newest followers -
Ellibelle of Ellibelle's Corner
and Kren  of A Fourth Life

Both these talented ladies create wonderful cards - do go and pay them a visit and say hello!

This week we have this wonderful verse from Ephesians Chpt 2:6 as the freebie over at
this weeks Word Art Wednesday  Challenge

I was fossicking around in one of my "promise boxes" and found this piece of alcohol inked Yupo.  In addition to the violet, black and blue inks, there is some silver mixative, which adds a wonderful glimmer to the panel.  To add to the shimmer I flicked silver Inka Gold paint over the panel

I cut the printed verse out using a stitched rectangle by Memory Box, and sponged the edge with violet ink before mounting it just over the edge of the background panel

I also added some silver and purple sequins to the card after mounting it over a dark blue base

The inside was finished with some washi tape and some sparkle scotch tape.

  4. Hi, Maxine! I love your card! I have not yet dabbled in alcohol inks. I have quite a few of the Tim Holtz but I just never go around to using them. Your project has inspired me to pick them up sometime in the next few weeks and give it a whirl!

You should enter this project into our challenge at Shopping Our Stash. Our theme is Fabulous February and anything with violet, purple, etc., meets the challenge. Those fabulous purple swirls are a standout.

Thanks for playing along at A Place To Start.

  9. Alcohol Backgrounds are great. I love the way the colours react together and these are such gorgeous colours. I haven't tried my yupo paper yet, but I'll get around to it one day. A great verse of scripture with just enough embellishments. Any more would detract from the verse and beautiful background, so well done for stopping there! Kate xx

  15. What beautifully striking and intense colours Maxine and such lovely patterns created within your piece. I must confess my alcohol inks don't get used often enough and you have inspired me to go find them from the back of a cupboard to give them an airing - I might even throw in some glitter for good measure.

  26. That purple background is utterly scrumptious. What a shame you dd not photocopy it, I can imagine using it several times but i imagine you got such joy from the creation that it was a delight with every new thing you did to it.
Do I take it that you have not been well Maxine? I came on your blog a couple of posts further on and decided to work backwards and then realised that your posts are sparse, not like you at all. I do hope that whatever has kept you away from your crafting has disappeared now and we can look forward to more of your lovely work.
    A gorgeous card!
    Blessings, Neet xx
