Welcome
Why is it that so many of the men in my (extended) family enjoy fishing? Although it gives me a ready topic for a card, it can get challenging to make each one unique.
This card started with a play session on day with a friend who had just bought some
Brusho SprinkleIT powders... what fun we had, and this background is one of the results
Look at the sparkle there !!
I then stamped the piece with this fish from Hastings Rubber Stamps and silver embossed it, but was not happy with the outcome...
I then stamped and embossed the fish again on regular card and painted it - I was not happy with the way the colour turned out, so went over it with Oyster Twinking H20, and also painted the background fish with it too, giving them a ghostly look ;😉.
It took me ages to finally settle on the layout....
The sentiment (a magazine freebie) was silver embossed on white and cut to a banner, and the edge sponged with blue ink, as was the edge of the background panel.
The main panel was mounted over a layer of silver sparkle paper and then onto dark blue cardstock.

A great result in the end Maxine. I seem to make mostly sailing cards for my grandsons, one will be here representing Canada for the big regatta in Nov/Dec
ReplyDeleteThis is really an unique one! Love the crisp design and how you made such an impact with so less colours! Hugs, Gerrina

It's a really striking card Maxine and such a good idea making just one fish to focal element. Brusho's are a real favourite with me.

ReplyDeleteYou really are amazing with the embossing, Maxine. I can tell that this card is stunning in real life with the way it grabs the light. I recently got a slew of new embossing powders (from both Imagine Crafts and WOW) but I'm still struggling; especially when embossing sentiments. I've tried so many tricks (blowing on it, using a small paint brush, etc.) to get the excess powder off, but it still turns out......well, not like this. Perhaps it's the pad I'm using, but I have much to learn. So, when I constantly comment on your embossing, it's because I'm in awe. Wondering what I'm doing wrong.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I read a comment on someone else's blog that you had a little out-patient surgery recently. I'm sorry to hear this, Maxine. I know we all have our little issues, but I hate hearing that you're going through it. I have been praying for you and hope you're back to normal soon. Life is filled with struggles and issues, but our LORD is so gracious to see us through it all. I'm also grateful for you, my friend. Take care!
Hugs,
Karen
