Grungy Gears

Welcome

I hope you are all safe and well.
We are in a four week nationwide lock down, and up to day 13.  It's been fine up until now so I have been able to do some walking, but we have currently have some much needed rain falling!

It's time for another challenge over at Word Art Wednesday, where the scripture used on this card is available as a freebie.
This fortnight we are being sponsored by the lovely Gina K Designs, who is providing a $40 voucher to the winner to spend in her store.

I started with a base of kraft cardstock, and sponged the edges with Espresso Ink, and randomly stamped some small cogs on it with Versamark ink, and brushed gold perfect pearls over them.

The snippet of grungy corrugated card was sitting on my desk, so I decided to mount the scripture over that, after painting the edges with Ink Gold paint

I had no smooth gold card, so glued some thin gold paper onto card and die cut that with my M/B cogs die.  I only used a few touches of glue to adhere it to the card front, as I added brads to some of the cog centers, to add to the industrial feel of the card.

I finished the inside with some thin card on both sides with some 'industrial style' washi tape on one side of each panel.

  3. Hi Maxine,

Glad all is well with you and 'this too shall pass'...

Your card is royal - I like the way you made your cogs. Lovely text too. I did that with Ferraro Rocher wrappers and had lots of fun doing it except that my card is still lying undone. Maybe your card will give me inspiration. Lol.

The insides of your cards are always so well done - just like you are.

    Love,

    Monica

  7. Maxine- You have created a wonderfully inspirational card that is so appropriate in these difficult times. LOVE the bible quote (I'm kinda partial to the Apostle Paul's letters to the early churches) and the gold pearls. Pearls of wisdom! Thanks for entering JDS Blog Challenge #ll. Good luck and be safe.

  9. That is a lovely card, beautiful scripture and beautiful script too. I like the way the gold paper has turned out, what a good idea - it looks very regal, rich and actually looks embossed.
It will be a month in two days time since I last went out and so far am not going stir crazy. I can keep this up for the three months they are asking if it is for the good of all. Just wish others would abide by the 14 days if that is all they have been given.
Glad you are ok and that you have been managing to get out for a walk,
    Stay safe and well,
Hugs and Blessings, Neet 2 xx

  10. I like that you used gears to represent power. The brads had that extra touch to the gears as well as dimension. The layout of your card is great too.

  11. This is a lovely, masculine, spiritual card that I'm sure your recipient will greatly appreciate! Like many other crafters I am thankful I have a hobby to take my mind off the situation. While I want an end to the circumstances, I hope we all find more time for our interests once this is all over rather than jump right back to our too-busy lives. Thanks for sharing this at Jan's Digi Stamps Challenge, and continued good health to you in the weeks ahead.

  14. Lovely card, unusual to have this quote with the gears but I actually love this as it is so different and appealing...nothing like a few cogs to life the spirits. Take care.xxx
