A Timely, Scrappy, Masculine Card

Welcome,
And a very big welcome to two new followers - Stevenson Que, who's blog is currently off line,
and Nelly Shaw, whom I cannot find a blog for - please let me know, Nelly, if you have a blog, so I may follow you back.

I made this card for the husband of a friend recently, and it started with two off-cuts from my 'promise box' (I promise I will use it one day...).
The one on the left of the card is from a Craft Works pack called Oceania, the one of the right, I think, was another Craft Works pack of simple Black and White paper - this sheet has some patches of gold in the design.

This top sentiment was a magazine freebie, embossed with white on blue card

As is this greeting. Both were trimmed and hand cut into a fishtail on one end.

The watch was from a NBUS (Never before used schtuff) Kaisercraft set that was crying out for inking - I stamped it in black and clear embossed it, and die cut it with the accompanying die.

As he is a man of faith, I stamped this quote on the left of the inside.
The only other detail was the silver ribbon tied around the card on the outside.

  3. Hi Maxine,
For some reason, am not able to view your lovely card. But the second photo does let me peep into it. It is such a nice masculine card with a perfect text for a man who believes.

  8. Hello Dearest Maxine! I am so happy and honored to be greeted by you on this post! Thank you very much! You are right I took down my blog for the mean time due to a massive identity theft attack on us Filipinos yesterday. It stressed me a lot because I found out somebody created a fake account on my name and my photo! It's very scary what is happening in our country now. but anyway I super love this card! Love the watch that you chose to accent on the card face and I very much agree to the message. Pray often because when all efforts seems not enough (just like how me and my friends unwaveringly reported the fake account) only God and prayers can really be your refuge. Congratulations to 0 active cases in NZ! your country truly lives up to being the world's role model!

  9. Oh Maxine, this is a fabulous masculine card! Love that you used some stuff from your promise box. The papers are awesome, loving that pocket watch-well done on using a NBUS! I love the faith quote on the inside, so true! Congrats on NZ having 0 Covid cases, your country has truly done things right. I think we all need to take a cue from your country on how to handle this. Bret just told me tonight about NZ and I thought of you immediately. Hugs, Brenda

  12. Wonderful card for your friend's husband's birthday, Maxine. I love the mix of papers and designs. Always great when you can use some items from your "promise me" box.

On our local news in BC tonight, there was a story about New Zealand being declared Covid-free. Congrats! What a relief that now life can start getting back to normal. Your Prime Minster did a great job keeping the virus under control. xx

  38. A striking and very apt card for a man Maxine. I love the choice of papers for the background and the fishtail is so clever with the reference to the sea. Not easy to do male cards but you have certainly nailed it with this one.
