Doily Ombre Resist

Welcome

I am afraid I have not been around much as I am having a series of major changes in my life - I am packing up my house to move, and as I am down sizing, I am also purging... all I can say is that it is quite a slow process as I work through what to keep and what to 'purge'.

This week at Word Art Wednesday we are sponsored by Stix2 Anything and are supplying a wonderful package of top quantity product as the prize this fortnight.

My card started as a piece of card that I had coloured in an ombre sequence with water colour crayons.

I then took a foam stamp that I had made using a doily die cut, and stamped and clear embossed it over the background.
Next came a generous layer of Chipped Sapphire DI, the embossed image was wiped off, and voila, a fabulous sunrise or sunset impression!

The colours in the image were echoed in the ribbon and ric rac when I assembled the card

The wonderful scripture was die cut using a MB stitched rectangle die - it is available as a freebie over on the word Art Wednesday site

I finished the inside with the narrow stripe of the inked background

  1. Welcome back, Maxine. You were dearly missed. I hope your move goes well and you are able to purge and keep whatever you can... it is not easy but in the end it does feel light.
Your sunrise card is symbolic of the move. May it bring lots of joy.
Love the way how you made the stamp with a foam die cut.
Such a vibrant card. The ombre colours are yummy.

    Love,
    Monica

  4. I am not moving but having watched a programme on Hoarders I am going to have a purge in my craft room also.
Lovely card, love the ombre effect you obtained, very clever; and lovely idea to echo the colours in the ribbon trims down the side.
Take your time purging and good luck with the move when it comes around.
    Blessings, Neet xx

I must get my crayons out and use. Hardly used. Bern good on perfect pearls now need to copy you. It’s very clever not tried that oxide distress smooch resist .. seen it but like lots done. Looks really great wonderful verse too.

  7. Moving is a nightmare Maxine, let alone downsizing as well, such dilemmas what to keep and what not.

So much vibrancy to your card today with that bold central panel surrounded by the deep blues.

  11. Lovely card, Maxine!

I wish you well with your move. I can't imagine what it would be like for us if and when we have to do that. Jim and I moved into our starter home (yes it's small) about 50+ years ago, and then never moved again. and I am way too sentimental all those years of stuff, I need to go through.

So my heart goes out to you...it's not easy to purge. I am been trying in case the day comes soon that we have to do that. It's not easy

  13. Having moved house many times and gone through major downsizing on a couple of them, you have my sympathy and encouragement. It is not the easiest thing to do but the results are well worth it. I hope you will find many blessings in your new home :) xx

  19. This gave me so much joy to see and read dear Maxine! I adore that sunset in the sun, I looove sunset colors so much from oranges and yellows to purples and deep indigos and you got it all on this one. The Bible passage is so beautiful and a great reminder that we are all but he same in heart and in the view of our Lord, we are all brothers and sisters.

  20. That is quite the undertaking Maxine, as we can acquire so much stuff! Then there is the emotional attachment of said stuff. I hope it all goes well for you and you get through this downsizing pretty quickly. I also hope you enjoy your new home/area that you will be moving to! Sure hope you have help!! Your card is stunning! I love the way you made that sunrise or sunset impression, it's amazing! It's perfect for the scripture I feel. I don't use my watercolor crayons nearly enough. Only have on SU set, and I believe it might be earth tones. I really must use them more. lol Good luck with everything and I will keep you and this new journey in my prayers! Hugs, Brenda

  21. I don't envy you moving! When we moved here I said I'd never move again and I hope not to! I love that you made your own doily stamp and that sunset is beautiful. Thank you for your lovely comment and I'm so happy you visited my blog.

  22. This card is gorgeous and I love the sentiment. Isn't it strange how we spend our lives collecting stuff and then suddenly, we don't care about material things anymore? I have only ever moved twice in my life. I moved from a townhouse to my first house and then we moved here (thinking it would be a stepping stone to a bigger house) it got crowded when our kids were teenagers but the neighborhood is so nice and we are 3 blocks from the Chesapeake Bay, I don't think we will ever move.

    Hugs,
    Chriss

  28. You do this technique far better than I can. I love how you have achieved the colour change in what looks effortless to you. The orange stands out so perfectly against that midnight blue and although it is the main image it does not detract from the scripture at all.
Good luck with the downsizing - I do not envy you one bit.
    God Bless, Neet xx
