Welcome
I am running a day late with this post. I did get it part done yesterday, and then life happened!
As it has a habit of doing.
This card is for the new challenge at Word Art Wednesday , where our sponsor is the very generous company, Clearly Besotted Stamps, who will supply a 15 Pound gift voucher to the winner.
My card started as an oops, the embossing was not 100% for the technique I was trying, so it got put into my 'promise box' after I had sponged the ink over it.
Somehow I just don't seem to be able to successfully emboss on watercolour paper!
The verse was cut with a stitched circle die and sponged with yellow ink on the edges.
As the panel was too large for the card front, I trimmed one edge off and mounted it to the side, layering it over a piece of gingham ribbon, then added vertical a bow to the right
A few blue sequins and the front was finished
The inside was finished with a trimming from the feature panel.
When I was writing this post, it occurred to me that what I did with making the unsatisfactory panel into something attractive and useful, God does to us when we mess up (sin).
When we admit/confess our sin, he will forgive and redeem us, and remake us into something beautiful, as we are all precious to Him.

A pretty card Maxine, your background is fabulous - lovely colours.

Pretty pastel colours Maxine and the yellow inking round the circle really draws the eye.

I struggle on ANY paper with a large embossed image. Even with my trusty MISTI, I cannot get a complete impression. I LOVE that you saved this panel and found the perfect use for it! I actually have a layer for a tall card. The lower portion didn't turn out so I am trying to figure out how to use it. I might just cut it in half but I am still thinking about it! I love the colors in your card and that sweet gingham ribbon. Your scripture is beautiful. I really like to ponder and rest in scriptures like this especially in such disturbing times! I just discovered Clearly Besotted when Simon Says Stamp featured them. They have the most darling stamps! Ok, I guess I am chatty today. Hugs and safe wishes to you!
ReplyDeleteMaxine, this is so pretty! Love the blending of the colors!
ReplyDeleteThis is stunning. Beautiful colours.
ReplyDeleteThank you for entering our Anything Goes Challenge at Through The Craft Room Door this week. Looking forward to see you again next challenge.

I struggle with embossing on watercolour paper too. I love that you kept your oops and that it became the basis of this beautiful card. I feel in cardmaking that there are no mistakes - just opportunities for another card!
ReplyDeleteYour card is beautiful, Maxine. I love the background and the big bow! Kisses, my friend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty card and the background looks amazing x.
ReplyDeleteYou have made a very beautiful and meaningful card from your Ooops! I like your analogy that God deals with us the same way :)
ReplyDeleteNot all papers are created equal Maxine, smooth with no tooth water colour is better, some watercolour have too much tooth to emboss successfully,
ReplyDeleteAnd it’s also some stamps.
I just had perfectly smooth card of zero issues which needed about ten impressions using Versafine with my stamping tool. No fun, but great image so I persisted.
I also bought a white board eraser today from Officeworks for $5.50 which Jennifer McGuire uses when stamping to get even over all pressure. It’s a great idea and they’re quite cheap here in town so huge blessing.
Praying for you in your busyness of current situation. I’m pretty busy and tired a lot here hence not blogging.will soon in few daysGod willing.
Love that verse and it’s a great card, love the offset with bow and circle very clever.
Thanks for being a blessing, and may God bless you too, especially in these unusual times, precious to rest simply in Him! Praying you’re all kept well too!

Ah Maxine; it is always good to use up these pieces. The colours are so pretty. You have made good use of it. Kate x
ReplyDeleteYour "oops" turned into such a beautiful card! Loving the colors and verse!
ReplyDeleteThis card is gorgeous! You are so talented, even your oops look better than the cards I work on for a week!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Chriss
Perfect scripture for a beautiful card. Perfection does not exist but for God. Beautiful exists in all for the eye that is willing to see it. Excellent work.

I think your card is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I know with card making, I have sort of learned from my mistakes. Now I don't stamp my sentiments upsdie down as much! or get ink in places on my card that I have not intended to put it. etc...etc...
Keep safe, and keep making these beautiful cards, I so enjoy seeing them.
Such a pretty card, Maxine. The blue and yellow combo takes me back to the 1970's (which were pretty awesome, I must say). I always say that any "oops" can be saved. There's always a way to hide the mistake, and often times the creativity required to cover the "oops" helps make the finished product even better. This is super cute.
ReplyDeleteYou are such a blessing to me, and to Word Art Wednesday. Thanks so much for all you do - even with a recovering surgery with your hand. You're the best.
Hugs,
Karen
This is a beauty! I love the softness of the backgorund colors and the pattern is just so sweet - what an amazing sentiment, too! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI think it turned out beautifully, Maxine! I love it! Glad you are playing along with us on the Lemon Shortbread Challenge Blog. Good luck with your entry, and hope to see you again.

What soothing colours and an equally comforting scripture to go along, Maxine. Love how it turned out. Just beautiful and the blue check ribbon is perfect.
ReplyDeleteLove,

This is just beautiful Maxine! I love that you used your "oops' panel, it is beautiful even if the embossing isn't perfect. It gives texture to your card and I love the beautiful colors. The scripture is so beautiful as well and you have showcased it perfectly as well. You are so right with the unsatisfactory panel, making it into something attractive and useful, just the way God does for us when we mess up and sin. Which we will do as we are human and not perfect. But He always forgives us when we ask and redeems us. He indeed makes us into something beautiful as we are His dear children. Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteThat bow looks extra special dearest Maxine! I love the colors that you chose for the overall design they are both warm and cool and homey :)
ReplyDeleteBeautifully put together, Maxine! So happy to see you playing along and supporting our "Anything Goes" challenge at Pammie's Inky Pinkies this week. Good luck in the draw. :-D

I just love the colouring on this card. How the orange and the yellow mingle together and the stitched circle with its end chopped off - that looks so just right to me. Also how you have placed the bow, and what a great bow maker you are. That is a perfectly tied bow.
ReplyDeleteThis has to be one of my favourite cards.
Blessings, Neet xx
Your card is so pretty. I don't see an Ooops anywhere. Love the background and the blue gingham ribbon is perfect. Hugs, Maggie
ReplyDeleteOopsies are just a way for us to use our creative mind to ficks them and that is what you certainly have done!

It is a good thing that you didn't throw the background away when the oops happened because you were able to make a terrific card with lovely colour blending from it. Thanks for joining us at The Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog.
