Circles and Stripes and Gold Thread

Welcome

This is the first challenge for 2021 for Word Art Wednesday,
our sponsor is Taylored Expressions, and they are providing a $30 voucher for the winner.

The wonderful scripture was designed by Karen Murray, and is available free on the Word Art Wednesday blog site.

This month I decided to go with a tall and slender card format, no, not following the slimline trend, but rather making the most of the piece of patterned paper that was on my desk, and had been there waaaay longer than I can remember- well before I moved!!

I chose some card that matched, and folded the (half A4) sheet to form the card base.
As the edge was very plain, and I have no extra long embossing folders, I scored a random geometric pattern with a bone folder, and highlighted it by sponging on some tea dye DI ink very gently.

I printed out the scripture with a green background to match the paper, then die cut it with a stitched rectangle die, and mounted it over some loosely coiled, very fine gold thread

Below the feature panel I added some banners, cut from the snippet of paper that I had trimmed - it was two sided paper, so I could get the differing orientation of the stripes

  11. Wow, what a great use for this piece of snippet! I love your slim card, I love that paper! I also love how you took your card base and added some geometric score lines, really adds to the card. The scripture sentiment looks so nice in the green, love how you placed the fine gold thread behind it. And what I really love is how you got so much use from this snippet of paper and added the banners. Now that is what I call using those snippets! Great job! Hugs, Brenda

  24. Maxine: Your card is beautiful! I love the Bible verse and the soft green background for it which helps make it a focal against the large circular paper shapes behind it! You've balanced the coordination of all the different geometric lines and shapes very well! Wonderful card!
