An Easel card, Plus

Welcome

This is a card I made for my local swap group for November.  The challenge was to make an interactive card that had an element that moved, popped or generally was not just 'flat'.

This is how my card would have looked when the recipient took it out of the envelope

Once it was opened and set for viewing, it would have looked like this

I used a plain green card base, with papers from a Recollections Pad named Rainbow Inks.
The flowers were made from white card, coloured with Cosmic Shimmer Summer Sky Opal Polish, and then sprayed with blue mica sprays - the leaves were from the base card with green mica spray added before die cutting.
All the dies were older S/B dies, including the base of the focal panel

The wee panels on the side  after being assembled were were adhered using foam tape.
The flower centers are coloured brads that I have had for a v-e-r-y long time...

Here the sprays show on the die cuts

This is how the card looks in profile once 'stood up', and you can just see the mechanism used to pop the focal panel.

Faded Cogs

Welcome

This is a card that I taught last month using a stencil technique.

To start the sentiment area is masked and then the stencil placed and inked working from the masking out, fading out the further you go from the masked area, but not covering the card front completely.
I chose to 'mirror image' the stencil by flipping it over between the top and bottom of the masked area.

The sentiment was copper embossed, using a magazine freebie stamp

When mounting the stencilled panel, I added a wee snippet of copper paper in the top left and bottom right before adhering to the base - subtle, but a touch more of colour and texture.

I finished the inside with a strip of copper spotted washi tape.

Shaped Golden Scripture Card

Welcome

I know it's been a while since I was here - I needed to take some time out and slow down, as I had tried doing too much, again.  One day I may learn.....

It's time once again for the Word Art Wednesday Challenge to start, and this week we are sponsored by The Project Bin who are providing a $15 credit to their store.

The scripture, from the book of Jeremiah, was beautifully crafted by Karen M,
and is available as a freebie digital download at the Word Art Wednesday Blog Page

The card was cut from a S/B Labels  Die, and sponged with Delicata Golden Glitz ink before removing the die.
Too ensure the stability of the card, I cut another layer from the die, and trimmed straight across the base of the die cut before scoring near the top, and gluing it to the upper portion at the back of the card

The ribbon was tied around it and held in place with the glued layer
The wee flowers were punched from a snippet of card that had been sprayed with a T.H. mica spray, Flickering Candle, and I popped a gold rhinestone in the centre of each of them.

This photo gives an idea of all the glimmer and shine provided by the inks, ribbon and spray.

A Quick Tag

Welcome

I would like to welcome Annabel Lee as my latest follower - her blog is here
(She writes in Spanish, but Google will translate)

This was a quick tag to make, I didn't have much time, so was very pleased that it did come together very quickly.
We have a small group of women at church who meet once a week, and we celebrate each others birthday with a small gift (there is a price limit), and this tag was needed for that!

I cut the tag using a Paper Rose tag die

Embossed the sentiment useing Wow Metallic Gold Sparkle ep., and the rubbed the edges with
versamark ink and dipped them in the ep, and heated.  Unfortunately the heat gun blew some of the poweder over my desk...

The poppies - Memory Box Prim Poppy - were already cut and were in the pocket the die was in, so I decided to use them, and tapped them in the ink, then into the spilt powder... loved the results.

The above photo  gives an indication of the sparkle that the embossing powder I used

And here it is attached to the gift.

Flowers for Annalise

Welcome

This card was made for a sweet wee girl turning three.

I ended up using a decoupage magazine kit for this card, and enjoyed assembling it.
I then added my own touches to complete the card

I changed it from a square card to oblong, and layered up the patterned paper onto silver and then a dark blue base card, and added the sentiment and digit.

This shows some of the dimension achieved with the layers

I also lavished Wink of Stella on all the flowers (including the one in her hair)

The sentiment was another magazine freebie, which I silver embossed onto the dark blue card of the base, and then layered over some more of the sparkle silver card

The digit was similarly offset over the silver.

The inside was finished with a strip of glitter tape.

Snippets and a Scripture

Welcome

Today is the start of the new challenge at Word Art Wednesday ,
where we are being sponsored by the wonderful Really Reasonable Ribbon.
This week's uplifting scripture is available free at the Word Art Wednesday site.

I started this card, which is a mini slim-line style, with a piece of deep pink/red card that was on my desk, and then I found this remnant/snippet of napkin/serviette covered  card that 'worked' with it.

I printed the scripture, then cut a S.B scalloped rectangle from another snippet of the base card, lengthening the rectangle as I did so.

I offset the rectangle slightly on the base to add in the ribbon - not one from our sponsor, but similar to their wonderful grosgrain ribbon.  I added a wee 'faux bow' on the plain stripe.

To finish the card I added some Glossy Accents to the centres of the flowers and the corners of the scripture panel.

Black and White Birthday

Welcome

This card is a compilation of various company's products, but they came together beautifully.

I started with the idea of a channel for the sentiment, so die cut the borders using a lacy die, cutting into some gold and black splattered paper

I then measured where I wanted the sentiment and white embossed it on the black base card. The sentiment had longer 'tails' but I shortened them for this card by masking the stamp

Sitting the pieces together the card looked rather stark, so I white embossed the wee spray of flowers in white on black card, and die cut it

I then used the same die to cut a layer from gold paper, and off set it behind the black and white image

This photo shows some of the gold splatter in the background

The inside was decorated with a strip of the same gold paper.
