Welcome
Firstly I would like to say thank you to Di for letting me know that Kathy A has a blog here, and her work is beautiful - thank you Di, and do pop over and visit Kathy's blog.
This card was made for a 12 year old boy... not sure of his interests, but he has had a rural upbringing
The image was one in a set I bought, knowing it was an el cheapo import, but not realising it was a rip-off from Beccy's Place :( I was mortified, and I have not used it before now - some 18 months later..
I stamped the image onto kraft card, and what colouring I added was done with my polychromo pencils.
The Kraft card that I used was part of some unneeded manila folders that I cut down for card bases!
I fussy cut the image, and popped it through the MFT rectangle peek a boo die ,
Then backed the whole panel with some cranberry cardstock.
The background piece of card was a 'mop up' sheet, and the ink I used before spraying my glass work surface, and then smooshing the card, is from an old pad of Espresso Ink
The sentiment is an old magazine freebie that I love using on masculine cards - stamped in Versaclair Pinecone ink and clear embossed
and for the side of the envelope.

A fun card Maxine.

Fun card for a boy, love the masculine design, the background and the horse. I too sometime recycle manila folders to cut out shapes or bases!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. Such a fun horse image! And fabulous card for the pre-teen boy. He's going to love it!
ReplyDeleteFabulous clean and simple card for a guy (young and old). Thanks for joining us this week at Pammie's Inky Pinkies. Hope to see you again.
ReplyDeleteHi Maxine, a great card for a country raised lad. Love the horse, if you were mortified when you realised that it was a knock off, can you imagine the look on the faces of a craft show shop when a customer striped certain stamps from their large stall and called them out for selling knock offs from elsewhere while handing them back... Have a wonderful week... Megan

OH! Dear Maxine, there are so many around that it can't be helped sometimes. Love the card, perfect as a masculine card. x
ReplyDeleteFun birthday card, Maxine. Thanks so much for sharing with Word Art Wednesday this week. Take Care!
ReplyDeleteI love the image; it is so good for a boy that age!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that it is a ripoff...that's way I don't buy the cheap ones from China. But still; bought some dies from a shop and others on a show and they are ripp-offs... When you think to do the right thing! Have a great week! Hugs, Gerrina
Thanks for sharing your horse card with Ally's Angels! Well done with the techniques used! The ink smooshing leftovers has worked very well to look like splattered mud maybe caused by the horses' hooves! :) The cranberry is a great color choice behind 'Fred'. ==Becca
ReplyDeleteP.S. If you'd like, I would love for you to share "Fred" at FarmQuest General Store challenge blog #15. FQGS is anything farm and/or country goes topics, so anything rural, outdoors, ranching, camping, fishing, gardening, etc. is welcomed. ==Becca

ReplyDeleteI am sure the young man will be delighted with his card. What a fab face that horse has, made me smile. Love the idea of using old manilla folders.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Neet xx
I know the feeling of finding out an image is a "borrowed" creation. They proliferate on the net. I do love that image. Reminds me of a wiley old jokester who just pulled a fast one. Brought an instant smile. Great birthday card.
ReplyDeleteHugs and Blessings
I think it's perfect for a 12 year old boy, such a great design!
