Yellow Tulips for a Birthday

Welcome
Thank you for visiting my blog - blogs seem to be rapidly going 'out of fashion', with noticeably fewer folks either blogging or visiting, so I do appreciate you calling in.

This card started by the recipient admiring the stamped image on another card I had on hand..

I started with with a mica sprayed panel - it looks like it may have been a Lindy's spray, Hydrangea blue.  The tulip stamp is a very old one from Kiwistamping (now defunct)
I  used it embossed as the focal point, and also stamped it randomly in Versamark Ink on the background and brushed pearl Perfect Pearls over it - it can just been seen on the top right corner

After stamping and silver embossing the image, it was watercoloured and diecut using an old Spellbinders Die, and the edges were brushed with Memento Danube Blue ink before removing the die
The greeting was originally cut in white card some years ago when I was house sitting and had free access to my friends supplies... I painted it silver to fit with the embossing.
The focal panel was mounted onto a deep blue base with some silver card under two opposing corners, and some blue and white organza ribbons tied together across the base.

The inside was decorated with an offcut of the sprayed panel.

The envelope was stamped with the main image, again using Memento Danube Blue ink

  1. Hi maxine. You are right. There are very few regular bloggers now. I only manage my Friday news post, and monthly Christmas one, and I rarely get to look at other folk, so I don't deserve visitors myself! I really only keep mine going because I know several of my elderly relatives do read mine every Friday, and it was started for them anyway.
But I do like tulipsand they craft well. Of course this stamp is not familiar to me but it is very pretty. You did a good job on the background too.
Hope you are keeping well. Kate x

  6. Gorgeous card Maxine. You are so correct about blogging not being "in"-lots are now using Instagram... I'm lucky if I get 2 or 3 people commenting. Glad you are one of them - much appreciated.

  7. The third picture down shows the true beauty of the way you have used this stamp. Gorgeous Maxine. I love how you used Perfect Pearls over the Versamark - something I have been thinking about a lot recently. They seem to have gone out of fashion, much like blogging as you say.
It would be a shame to lost blogging, it's nice to look back on and a good way of remembering the techniques we have used.
    Blessings, Neet xx

This is such a gorgeous card, I love the curved sentiment and the frame, the blues are beautiful as are your lovely tulips, a beautiful insert and I love how you added the tulips to your envelope. I've been poorly the last month, so haven't done as much blogging as I feel I should, but let's hope lots keep using it. x

  10. That is absolutely stunning Maxine ... my tulips have poked their heads through the soil now but will be awhile before they flower. That card is just so special & so much detail. xx

  11. Hi Maxine, a gorgeous card for your friend, love the subtle embossing on the spray ink background, I can see it in the first picture. I have noticed fewer bloggers and as for me it is far too cold to be in my crafting space just now. Have a wonderful week. Stay warm... Megan
