Welcome
This card started with the base being an experiment in brayering colour onto some glossy photo card in an ombre style - I used Forest Moss, Peeled Paint, and Bundled Sage Distress Inks, and was again not impressed with my brayering skills...
The base sat in my 'promise box' for some time before this card eventuated - I cut some gold paper into rectangles with some s/b rectangles, embossed them while the paper was still in the die, and then sat and wondered, until my eye lit upon this (unknown) die that was part of a mystery package. If somebody recognises it and can identify it, I would be happy to know.
It was cut three times, and then painted with twinkling H2O's.
Before I assembled the parts of the card, I took some multi coloured metallic thread and looped it over the card front, adhering it with a wee tag of tape under where the panels were to be placed.
I cut the sentiment from a s/b die delite in the gold paper, backed it, and adhered it, and added three drops of gold liquid pearls either side.

ReplyDeleteThis card has kind of an oriental feel to it I think. I really like with the greens and golds. Brayering isn't as easy as one thinks it is, especially on glossy paper.
ReplyDeleteAs for your comment on my blog I think you have the right attitude, sympathy cards should be peaceful, we shouldn't worry about the color scheme. It's about being soothing.
(1)your die looks like a Darice die that I have (and I think this company goes under another name too, from things I've seen on the internet.)It's a pretty floral & I love how you've used the delicate H20's. That's a product I've never managed to get the hang off. Your brayering looks great to me (it has the look of vintage silk fabric!). Another technique I can't manage well, but yours looks very pretty. The soft greens look marvelous with the gold sparkle of the trio of rectangles. Just the gold would have been lovely, but you enhanced it even more with the soft flower branch. Loved the addition of the gold thread...it's really so beautiful Maxine. Great work! TFS & have a good week.
ReplyDeleteIt seems your brayering experiment was a huge success, it looks amazing and I like the way you have wrapped metallic treat around it. Your gold paper looks stunning against the backing paper. Thank you for sharing your work with all of us at Crafty Boots Challenges.

Hi Maxine. I love what you have done to this card. Even though you may not have been happy with your brayering, I really like the effect you produced. The gold enhances the greens, beautifully.Cheers, Di
ReplyDeleteSo rich and elegant looking! Thanks for joining in on my Amusing Challenges this past week - love having you here!
ReplyDeletewonderful work Maxine .. mm no idea on the mystery die ...re the brayer ... DI is not good for brayering, rather dye inks are better. I do have a video on my blog on the tabs at the top..you maybe are pressing too hard on the brayer.... light touch is essential..
ReplyDeleteand stopping too soon some folks stop as soon as it gets a tad messy instead of persevering.
Thanks so much for the inspiration.
