Welcome
I had intended to post before this, but lately life seems to have thrown several days at me in one, plus I have been trying to get the gardens sorted for winter, but winter is slow in coming and the weeds keep growing....
I made this card for a man who is a mechanic.
I was inspired by a card somewhere (can't member the details) where the frames where made by cutting two graduated dies at one time.
Keeping with the 'square' theme, I embossed the black panel with a square patterned folder
The greeting was stamped on the center off-cut from the frames, and embossed in copper. The greeting is a very old Hero Arts stamp, one of my originals - i am so glad stamps do not wear out!
The gears within the frames were cut from silver and copper glitter card, some bronze card with a sheen in it, and shiny black card.
The gold layers behind the dark gray frames and sentiment, are actually the wrappers from the Hershey's Kisses that we shared for Valentines.

This is such an amazingly original card! Love the design, and your 'gears' look very glossy, as though you had glossy accents over...interesting to learn it was glitter c/s. Really do like the graphic embossing pattern too, especially with the square motifs. So cool that you used the Hershey candy wrappers as background. Now THAT is a great recycle, and so pretty too. Well done Maxine. TFS & Hugs
ReplyDeleteA wonderful masculine design with a great steampunk flavour.

Wonderful card, Maxine, great elements in guy card, well done!
ReplyDelete.. the fact that your stamps aren't wearing out shows you look after them, the rubber can crack them after about twenty or even sixty years + old second hand one of mine is a rubber a bit cracking around edges.. wonder how the polymer ones will last in comparison..
Thanks so much for joining us at Bizzy Becs Anything Goes Challenge and for the inspiration.
