Welcome
I would like to extend a warm welcome to Monika Reeck who blogs at

This card has not photographed well - despite the fact I tried on two different occasions - the orange is a lovely clear, bright colour IRL- not the muddy look it has here!!
The card is intended for a 12 yr old boy - to be given from his grandmother, and I felt when making it that he needed encouragement.
The stamps I used were an older set of Kaisercraft stamps that I bought over 12 months ago (on special), and were very much in the category of NBUS!!
I embossed the number panel in gold on the base of green cardstock.
The sentiments were stamped in Peeled Paint DI - I was very glad to be using the MISTI as I had to stamp them several times to get a good impression, and stop the orange showing through and making the colour of the images look really 'yuk'!
The finishing touches were the gold coloured thread and the buttons
- what 12 year old boy would want (or excuse) bling on his card?? -
but I really wanted something more than just the stamping on this card.

The orange looks very bright against the golden embossing on the green border. Not muddy. It's a lovely design, and I understand exactly how you feel about not getting a true color in the photo. I just had the same problem with a dark & vivid turquoise showing up as aqua in the photo. Your card is very lovely, even though you were not so happy with it!! Blessings, prayers & Hugs. TFS
ReplyDeleteGreat card! So glad you shared it with us at MFP Stamps Challenge!

Beautiful card. I know it will encourage him. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteHi Maxine, a super creation for a 12yo, the colours look muted rather than 'yuk', I somehow cannot manage not to stick a little bling on many male cards, I've never had any trouble from the receivers, not even the 16yo neighbour! Hope the little bloke loves his card... have a great week... Megan
ReplyDeleteHow thoughtful of you to make a card so full of encouragement... Love all the sentiments and the orange looks very nice inspite of the fact that you feel it looks muddy. I too have that number stamp and now I am getting motivated to use it. SUPER card.
ReplyDeleteWhat great stamps Maxine and perfect for a 12 year old boy - or any age boy for that matter! Once gain you have nailed the embossing - love it! :)

There you go with more of that fabulous and flawless embossing. Great job, Maxine. I always love to see your wonderful creations and see your skill level, which blows me away. I've been doing a Guest Design spot with High Hopes Stamps, so I've been pushing my embossing and stamping skills in general. It's been a real challenge for me, but I'm giving it my best effort and making myself try new things and step outside of my creative comfort zone so to speak. I know it's good for me creatively. Thanks so much for your inspiration, continued encouragement, and sweet fellowship. I appreciate you, Maxine.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you,
