Welcome
This card was made for a six year old boy 's birthday - as I don't know the child it was a bit awkward.
My starting point was the owl I had pre-coloured that was sitting on my rather messy desk, and the scrap of orange card...
I found that the owl just fitted into a S/B circle die, which in turn just fitted on the scrap. I added a blue outline and the the shaded gray background to the image, and as it was all done in Prismacolor pencils, I then tried blending it with an alcohol blending pen - I was pleased with the results.
I decided to use punch waste to layer under the orange card. As I got it out of the drawer it snagged on some crimped metallic thread and unraveled it....
So I wound the resulting wobbly thread randomly around the central panel!!
After assembling the card I added silver confetti stars to the image panel.

ReplyDeleteThat owl is so cute Maxine. And I love how you created the background with your watercolour pencils --- very cool technique. Isn't it funny how that snag of the coiled wire turned out to be perfect on the card. Meant to be! xx

Hello Maxine...This card is very cute and I'm sure it was appreciated by the recipient. I thought that crimped metallic was stitched as it appears. You did a pretty awesome job. I also want to tell you how grateful I am to see all your wonderful comments in my Blog. They truly brighten up my day. I've been pretty busy with crocheting accessories last month ordered by most of my friends from Church and still working on some this month. The reason why I am not online as often. I appreciate your friendship and hope you had an awesome holidays too. God bless always!

Hi Maxine, a fabulous card for a little lad, if I'm asked to make a card on behalf of someone else I always try to get a little bit of information about the recipient's hobbies, likes or what is on the invitation, because I have that same awkward feeling you had not knowing them. Wishing you and yours a Happy, safe and healthy 2017, thank you for all your lovely comments last year... have a great week... Megan

Doesn't that wobbly thread look great. Must try snagging something myself if this is the result.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the owl card inspiration, I was stuck for a card I need later and have just decided an owl will work fine. Not sure I will shade with my Prisma pencils , I might need something quicker but I do like the idea of using the alcohol pen. Must try that one.
Sending Blessings to you both
