Welcome
Now I have your attention with that title...
The alcohol is on the background of the card in the form of Alcohol Inks!
I was so pleased with this panel that I did not want to cut it up, or cover it up more than the bare minimum... (slight dose of pride here!!)
So I made a removable bookmark to go on the front of the card, with the sentiment ( a magazine freebie) white embossed on the hand cut double fishtail banner that holds the bookmark in place.
The bookmark was cut using a tag die by Paper Rose, an Australian company.
The owl on the bookmark is from Unity, a Jillibean Itty Bitty stamp set called Have a Hoot, which appears to have been retired.
He was stamped on kraft card, white embossed and coloured with Polychromo Pencils, and mounted over a snippet of green patterned paper I had on my desk.
I used an irRESISTable Pico embellisher to give dimension and added colour to the eyes and the dots on the hat.
The stamp sentiment was also embossed in white, and a few Nuvo drops and some green gingham ribbon were added and the card was done.

ReplyDeleteCertainly you got my attention with your post header.... great idea to make the bookmark so as not to cover too much that beautiful background.

ReplyDeleteHi Maxine, I certainly got a giggle about your posts heading, a beautiful inky background, love the owl with his checked tummy. I'm here with my DT hat on, thank you for coming along to play with us at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends... good luck in the prize draw.... Megan DT LPoCF
ReplyDeleteThe pride in the wonderful background is certainly justified! It's a pretty shade, and looks so nice with the kraft bookmark base. That little owl is adorable, and I loved your post title. Now, that was quite catchy, indeed! Also appreciated the time change at Stonehenge! Hope you are doing well...I think I'm getting my comments again, (hopefully!) so TFS & Happy Easter. He is Risen. Hugs
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card, Maxine! And a stunning background! Kisses, my friend.
ReplyDeleteYou had me wondering at the title Maxine LOL! Love those Alcohol Inks - so very effective and th owl works beautifully with the background - well done! xo
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous background Maxine - and you're right to be proud of it! I just received some Yupo paper here but the postman hasn't arrived with the alcohol inks I finally ordered for the very first time! Isn't that the way - here I am all poised to play and good old UK Royal Mail takes its time! And of course there's no delivery tomorrow (Good Friday), Saturday may well be unlikely and then they're not working on Sunday and Monday - grump, grump!
ReplyDeleteI do love the owl - and the colouring on kraft worked a treat - maybe I'll try that instead :)

Love, love, love this background! It's bold and grabs your attention. Beautifully designed Maxine... it's perfect the way the subtle owl on the kraft doesn't compete with the background but rather it enhances it. Perfection!
