Confessions of an Untidy Crafter

Welcome

Yes, I am an untidy crafter - I really do know where most things are on my desk, and I do put away after myself, but somehow no matter how I try, I end up with a 50cm x 50cm (18" x 18") or less,  space to work in!!

This card started with the platinum embossed and painted (with mica based paints) floral stamp on a snippet of black card.

I paired it with the deep red card for the card base, and added a layer behind it from another snippet of the same card.

The blue sprayed card was another snippet sitting in my 'promise box' (I promise I will use it one day) , and I ran the edge of it over a blue ink pad to define the edges and embossed the sentiment on that panel.  Unfortunately the camera did not pick up the sparkle in the spray.

The background layer was embossed in a S/B em-bossing folder, Lovely Lattice
After laying everything out on the embossed layer I jiggled it all around,  added the faux stitching, and was still not happy - then I spied the ribbon, and it was completed in very short time after that.

I am linking this to:

The poppy stamp is at least 10 years old!

  1. beautifully done.... I too, am an untidy crafter but like you know exactly (well most of the time) where things are. Tomorrow's task is to tidy up and put away from stamps - maybe if I don't get side tracked!

  2. Maxine this is beautiful. I fortunately am a tidy crafter, but I have a room and space to myself so not everyone one has that.xxx💖 [Aussie aNNie's Blog]

  4. Maxine, the splatters are gorgeous as is your card. And just so you know... tidy might be a wee bit over-rated when it comes to creative spaces. ;)

  6. That's normal creativ acting - every stamper ends up with just a minimal of space to work in the end of a project! - That's just creativity and ideas laying around "not a mess"! A beautiful card dear Maxine!
    Happy Easter!

  10. Hello again, fellow Kiwi! The poppies are so very vibrant and the faux stitching you added is lovely. Thank you for joining us at Retro Rubber Challenge this week. And yes, while mid-create it's amazing how the room shrinks to that 50x50 area on the desk!

  11. I'm not a tidy crafter either Maxine. You have managed to use up some handy snippets this time. The mica pens work so well on dark card don't they? That is a very pretty embossing folder you have used on the background layer. Kate x

  13. I think you have a lot of company with many of us being untidy crafters. Oh well...it goes with the territory, I think. Love your beautiful card. Thanks for showing the pictures of all the elements. They really show how the ribbon pulled everything together and made it pop. Love your creativity. Enjoy your day!

  17. Gosh, I think this must be one of your best cards, and made out of bits & pieces! Sometimes those turn out to be much more lovely than one you've used 'all new' stuff on. Love the mica, platinum embossing on the dark background. Stands out beautifully. The blue spatters were a lovely backdrop, as was the white embossed piece. The red mat made the red flowers glow. Very arty, and very pretty. Glad you were able to use up some UFO's! TFS & Have a good week.

  21. Hi dear Maxine, love the tittle! I too am an untidy crafter, I kniw where 95% of my stash is 95% of time!! Mm wonder about that missing 5%??? In the “Iwonder where it is corner?”, I think!

  22. Hehe, guilty as charged! But we're in good company, apparently Einstein was notoriously messy!! I don't seem to be able to craft until I've pulled out a whole bunch of 'stuff' and surrounded myself with it. I do my best work on a postage stamp size area of clear table!! LOL. Love your creation hun and the fab pulling together of elements from your 'promise box'. That's so cool, so going to create one of those! Hope you've had a happy Easter hun. I always send a thought your way at these times, as I know there will have been a hubby shaped hole in this celebration. Big hugs, Wends xoxo

  23. Gorgeous card & I love all the splatters.
I am a messy crafter too. I know where everything is but to someone else, it looks confusing and a mess. Having said that... I've never found one of my Misti magnets which has disappeared.

  24. Such a pretty card, Maxine. Thank you for joining us over at Crafty Gals Corner Challenge. Best of luck and hope to see you again soon. DT~Jana Forrest

ps..I have the opposite problem. I can not stand anything out of place. So if I create a mess, I spend days making sure all equipment is back in it''s spot!

  26. I am untidy too. I call it organized chaos. Usually I end up crafting on the couch because my desk and work table are so cluttered. I love the embossing and the splattered background perfect for the pretty floral panel. Thank you for joining the DL.ART Thankful Thursday Flower Challenge

  28. Beautiful card- I do think the blue ribbon ties it all together : ) I bet the sparkle IRL is amazing as well. Love your desk description- my desk is the same way, I usually end up stamping just in the center small space of my desk!
