I made this card for a friend who loves greens!
Hence why another Alcohol Ink background in these tones. This time the inks were dropped onto a surface of hairspray and mixed with my finger, then sprayed again to get a less distinct pattern. I learnt of this technique here on the Ink Stains Blog by Roni. His results differ from mine, but I am happy with my end product.
I did learn that the gold and silver mixatives don't play well with this technique.
I tried no-line colouring with this wee bird from a Sweet n Sassy set Birds and Blooms. I stamped it with Desert Sand Memento ink and coloured it with my Polychromos.
I die cut the image with a die from the S/B Marvelous Squares set, then painted the edge with Semco Mica paint. This was mounted onto the background with two gold glitter 'corners', which were made by cutting an old Cuttlebug /Provo craft square die cut diagonally.
The sentiment was embossed in gold and mounted over some organza ribbon across the top of the alcohol ink background.
This panel was mounted over gold glitter cardstock, and then onto dark green cardstock, and some small champagne pearls added.
I stamped and coloured a floral branch from the same stamp set as the bird, and coloured it with polychromos. The sentiment was a SnS stamp from the Prayerful Thoughts Set.

ReplyDeleteLove how the alcohol ink background looks. I like the no line coloring on your bird too. Hope you have a great day. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteOh Maxine, Thank you so much for the lovely welcome. What a lovely card in greens and I love a bird card. I have had a recent fascination with greens. I remember an instructor who was training us for marathons told us once, 'if you feel tired look at the greens'. It's been 10 years and I still do that, running or not.
ReplyDeleteOh how beautiful Maxine! I love this bird, your design and the wonderful sentiment. Hugs, Autumn

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely result on the alcohol. Wonder if you used matte or glossy paper? This is a new technique to me, but golly, it surely made an awesome background. Fantastic pencil work on the bird, I love the bright colors of his dress. The inside is just as pretty too, so well done! TFS &Hugs
ReplyDeletePS: forgot to mention that is a very apt verse at the end of your blog. Prayer is SO powerful. TFS that as well.
ReplyDeleteA lovely card Maxine, and thanks for the link, I have not seen that before

ReplyDeleteP.S. Our family history takes up a lot of time, but it is soooo interesting.... found news article on my grandad as a little boy, chasing after a swamp wallaby through a town, followed by station master and workers, girl guides, swimmers, sets quite a funny image in my mind... Megan

ReplyDeleteWhat a super sweet birdie, Maxine! I love it! It's like you drew it yourself with the no-line coloring and good job with the bold alcoholic background! (Wonder how long the ink will stay on your finger?!) The inside is springtime personified!! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Maxine. I have not heard of using hairspray with AIs. Interesting. Your background is really pretty. The mixatives work differently than the regular AIs with all products including the blending solution. But they add a lovely metallic sheen. Your bird is so sweet. Great job colouring! xx

ReplyDeleteJust wonderful Maxine! I love the fun background technique. Have you ever tried hand sanitizer? It gives a wonderful and prob similar result! You can also use Copic reinkers or AI reinkers if you have any.
