Welcome
Making this card was enough to give me the blues...
I started by stencilling using coloured gel medium, but smudged it, and was not happy - just as well as I realised later I had had the stencil the wrong way up on the paper...
I used Memento Danube Blue ink and stippled it through the stencil and was a lot happier with the outcome
I then wrapped some metallic blue cord around the panel, cut three tags, stamping the sentiment and sponging the edges of the white one with the same blue I had previously used. The edges of the dark blue tag were sponged with Platinum ink, the final tag was cut from sparkle card. The tags were attached with more blue cord, and also adhered with glue dots to keep them positioned 'just so'.
I had mounted the blue layer on the white base, and was still not happy, so I then covered the tags with some scrap paper and splattered with blue perfect pearls and some old silver shimmer spray - neither container will spray now, but the contents splatter well!
The inside of the card was finished with some silver and blues washi tape.
The final 'ugh' with this card was when I realised the recipient is turning 21, and I could use another (21st) card I had on hand...
I do like how this turned out, but it was quite a journey 😊

ReplyDeleteHello Maxine!
ReplyDeleteWhy you didn't have the stencil right side up and felt you didn't like the results as much, This card turned out wonderful! Sometimes it is our mistakes that turn out to be a happy blessing! :)
Maybe this should make you try out other stencils on the wrong side intentionally just to see what kind of cool results you get! Ya never know!! :)
I also want to thank you for taking the time to visit and follow me on my Stampin' Up Business page. I appreciate it so much. I am also your newest follower! I hope you have a wonderful day!

ReplyDeleteThank you so for playing along with us!
Glad you continued the journey to finish this wonderful masculine card. Yes gel medium can sometimes seep underneath a stencil and can be quite annoying. I several different gel mediums, with different consistencies as a result! The stippling with the blue looks fabulous. Love the way you did the tag too x.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the stenciling! Thanks for joining us at A Gem of A Challenge!

You did well Maxine. I don't find stencils very easy to work with. Lots of nice little finishing touches as usual. I must try spattering some of my colours that no longer spray. Knowing me it will end up as ink blots! Well done on a lovely card. Kate x
