A Garden Twofer!!

Welcome

I've done it - I have actually made two cards for the Two-fer challenge, and it's in time to enter...
usually I think about it and that's as far as it goes!!

Ta Da!! - two different cards for two different occasions, using the same stamp, stencil  or die!

My first was using the die cut in an conventional manner.

It was cut it in black card, mounted on a die cut oval of schparkly gold card...

then onto a dark green base.

White embossed the sentiment directly onto the base card stock, doodled around the edge and fancied up the inside with some washi tape.

I am linking this card to:

The second card I cut the image from the die, and used it as a mask to create the background, inspired by Ardyth, here, but definitely not as skilled!

I was reasonably happy with the outcome, but decided to keep it really simple by cutting out the smile with a M/B die (appears to be discontinued), and letting the base card show through.

And stamping the sentiment (a magazine freebie) multiple times in the Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink that I had used in the background.
In retrospect, I should have clear embossed it for a wee bit more emphasis.

Again I finished the card with some washi tape in rose gold on the insert

I am linking these to:

  3. Clever doubling up of the die cut Maxine creating two such different cards. Thanks so much for joining in with our CAS theme at Allsorts challenge this week (the link at Allsorts goes to a blank page so not sure what the problem is but found my way here via the backdoor so to speak).

  4. I'm thrilled that you made it this month, Maxine, and I love the two designs you created! That schparkly gold is a lovely touch behind the silhouette garden on your sympathy card and I love the border you made! I think Ardyth would be proud of how well you did masking and blending the beautiful ombre background on your birthday card! Great idea to add the WT border to the insides (note to self!) Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #18! I hope to see you play again! Hugs, Darnell

  10. You've made two lovely cards for this challenge. You also showed me a techniue I have NOT seen before. One to put on my "to do" list.

I also struggle with trying to get this challenge completed. I can't believe it #18 already. I think I managed to enter 3 of the challenges. Sometimes I manage to get one card done then run out of time and ideas to get the second card done.

  11. Maxine, what a lovely set of twofer cards. Your conventional design showcases that lovely die. At first glance I thought you had used stamps...I was surprised when I read on and found your unconventional use of the die as a mask. Well done. I too enjoyed seeing your interior decorations. Thank you for playing along with the Twofer Card Challenge #18.
