Blue Poppies - yes they exist in my card making world!
I am generally very "true to life" in my colouring, so this is a bit of an exception - it started as I went to use this die, and discovered several die cuts from previous projects, including this watercoloured one from a previous project.
I had intended to simply emboss the edges of my panel, but was chatting on the phone while I was crafting, and ended up cutting it... then I left the studio with the pieces on my desk
I returned next day, and loved that the white panel was sitting at an angle on the blue base, so trimmed the rectangle slightly smaller and went with that... I had to 'stretch' the die initially as the USA sizes are smaller than our (Birtish based) paper sizes
I used my vertical sentiment stamp this time, and used one colour from a blue kaleidoscope ink pad.
The feature panel was layered over 'cereal box' cardboard to give a wee bit of dimension.
I finished the inside with some sparkly washi tape, and the camera focused on that only :(

Very pretty Maxine, I like the blue very much
ReplyDeleteI love the poppy die. It is one of my favourites and makes such an elegant card. Many years ago I worked for the head of biology at a private girls school and she grew Himalayan poppies that were blue. They were her pride and joy.
ReplyDeleteA lovely card. Kate x
Love it, Maxine! Beauty is how we see it to be created - and I think it's just gorgeous! Great floral card! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI am loving your blue poppies, Maxine. It is one of my fave shades of blue as well. The inside looks lovely. When you use a cereal box to pop up your main panel, what kind of glue do you use?
ReplyDeleteAlways a pleasure to come here,
Monica

This is such a striking card Maxine! I love the blue and white, that white panel just pops off that blue background and your poppies in blue are just stunning. Great job on stretching it when cutting it out too. Yes, I love traditional orange/red poppies, but these blue ones have stolen my heart. Hugs, Brenda
