Welcome
I made this card some time ago for a friend who is the queen of up-cycling commercial cards.
The image that I have used was one on a 'card' my grand daughter brought home for me from kindergarten, some four years ago - it was so pretty, and I am so sentimental, I could not just bin it, and then came the opportunity to use it for a very special friend.
I fussy cut the teapot image, and then mounted it over the blue doily Die cut - I cannot recall the name of it off hand, and it's so old it is possibly discontinued by now!
These were then mounted over some wide broderie anglaise lace I had been given, which I secured with some washi tape.
The final detail was the Happy Birthday embossed with platinum ep., hand cut into a banner and sponged with Whisper Rich Plum ink
The inside was strengthened with a white card panel as the front was fairly heavy, and the edges of that were also sponged with the Rich Plum ink, and then some washi tape as a finishing detail.

ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful collage card! All images are so feminine and soft and the glimmer is just the bit that was needed to let it pop a bit; so well done Maxime! Hugs, Gerrina
ReplyDeleteYour not then only one who keeps cards Maxine, I do just the same. But is such a good idea to recycle them as you have done and made it into a really pretty creation.

What a great way to recycle a card Maxine, a precious card to boot! I hope you took a photo of it so you will always have it to remember. I love how you took a portion of it and made this beautiful card for a special friend. Love the color of your doily and the background paper you used. Very pretty card! I like to recyle some of my cards too. I'm very sentimental and some of the cards I just can't see myself getting rid of so I sometimes use them in my journal...so when I open and read my journal that card is a reminder of the special person who sent it to me...and sometimes a reminder to say an extra prayer for that someone.
ReplyDeleteOH Maxine, I'm sentimental like you! I keep EVERYTHING! Just last year, I had to 'bin' a few things and then took them back! But your card - gorgeous in every way. I love the little glittery touches! Fabulous! Hugs! xx
ReplyDeleteSo feminine and lots of gorgeous elements!
