Unexpected Sympathy

Greetings and welcome.
The card I had to make yesterday was for a work colleague of my husband.  Both men are retired, but for all that his death was unexpected.

Sympathy Barrie H 12 (3)
I chose the colours as they are ones I know he enjoyed.
Sympathy Barrie H 12 (1)
I started by crinkling a piece of pale pink tissue and then rubbing the violet ink over it, then wrapping it around a bright pink panel of card to sustain the pink colour.
Sympathy Barrie H 12 (2)
The crosses from the Layers of Color (retired) set Gothic Crosses were gold embossed on white card and fussy cut and layered.
Sympathy Barrie H 12 (5)
When they were mounted on the panel I used foam dots to give them some dimension.
Sympathy Barrie H 12 (4)
I stamped and embossed the sentiment, from Layers of Color retired Sent With Love set. After shaping the banner, it too was mounted with foam dots over the gold edged ribbon that went the full width of the card..

  4. Maxine: Well, first I'd like to say that...after months of "begging" you, I'm SO glad you're playing along with us each week at Word Art Wedneday - what a blessing to have you with us!
Second, I wanted to say how very sorry I am that you had to make sympathy cards. It's always unfortunate when we need to make them, but yet I know that your beautiful artwork will be such a blessing and encouragement to them during this time of loss. Your heart really went into this, and you did such a beautiful job. Thanks SO MUCH for sharing with us again, and I really do hope you're enjoying playing along in the challenges as much as I'm enjoying having you with us and seeing your gorgeous art. Have a blessed week, and please know that I send my sympathy to you for your loss as well.
    Blessings to you,

  11. It is always difficult to make sympathy cards and those are the ones I dislike making the most because you know it's such a sad time.
Your card is lovely though.. elegant and clean and simple. The tissue background is very pretty and the embossing is just the right touch.
