Welcome again
While the technology is co-operating I thought I would put up another post.
The card was inspired by the the Technique Tuesday Challenge. I have recently started following this blog, and thought this was a good time to refresh my dahlia fold technique, which was rather rusty.
I also had to use a rescue technique as the doily slipped as I went to cut it, and one side was straight... so I placed that edge on the side of the card.
To balance that, I added the ribbon to the right of the bloom, and moved the sentiment to sit under the edge of the ribbon.
For interest I threaded the ribbon between the flower and the doily. I also added the butterfly to 'finish' the centre of the dahlia, and some deep red pearls.
I learnt that the paper I used was rather thick for this technique, and the petals have lifted a wee bit - hopefully by the time it has sat in an envelope for a trip to the recipient, it should be properly flattened.

I love this flower. I watched the tutorial for making it on Neil Walker's blog, ages ago, but I haven't got around to making one yet. It has made a very pretty card. Kate x

This is super, Maxine!! What a gorgeous flower! I have only made this dahlia flower once and it was a chore, but yours is so fresh and lovely! TFS! BLessings!
ReplyDeleteMaxine, this is so beautiful!! I'm not familiar with the dalhia folding technique. It looks a little complicated for me, but I love the way it turned out. Layering it on the doily just adds another element to it's beauty.

Great card; so pretty! The doily really sets off the Dahlia Fold Flower! Wish I had thought of doing that too. The straight edge of the doily looks like you meant for it to be like that. Thank you so much for joining in my challenge at Technique Time Tuesday! I hope you come back and play again soon.
