Welcome.
I needed a card in a hurry today as I had missed the date it was for, and I was meeting one of the recipients this afternoon. I also wanted to enter a challenge that was to use grey on a CAS card.
I also was inspired by this card on Libby Hickson's blog, so took the liberty to CASE it.
The camera has played 'dirty' with the colours, and after a wee bit of work, I managed to get the colours true in the above photo, but the others still distort it a bit.
I had 'fun' with the sentiment as the stamp has the words above each other, so I had to mask the stamp with masking tape and use a stamp-a-ma-jig to line the words up.
To add to the difficulties, I got the front panel finished, the edges all sponged and managed to smudge it :-( - so it was turn the card over and start again... so much for a quick card!! I stamped the main sentiment first, masked it all off and stamped the background - the first time was better than this attempt, but time was fast running out, and this perfectionist had to just had to let it go.

Very nicely done. I can relate to having difficulty in trying to get a card to photograph properly. I keep thinking I need to go get photography lessons. and smudges? we won't go these...can't count how many times I have had that problem...most of the time it's because I didn't realize that I managed to get the ink not only on the stamp but on my hands too, and then transferred that ink on my card. Hope you are having a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteI guess we are never completely satisfied with our work, but this looks good to me. I don't chose to do CAS or monochrome very often, but you have combined them well. Kate x

ReplyDeleteLovely CAS design Maxine! Great job on the challenge :)
ReplyDeletethat is not a color I would have ever chosen to use on a card, but you have done a fabulous job with the image and sentiment. Fabulous! I'm sure the recipient loved it.
ReplyDeleteOne shade of Grey - I love it! How well I know the pain of the smudge that wrecks a piece that was going so well up to that point! The card turned out beautifully in the end, though. Thanks for playing with us at LOC. xxx Keren
ReplyDeleteSome tricky elements to this card for sure! Masking the main panel, and lining up the sentiment, but you pulled it off so well! Aren't smudges just the worst? How come they never happen at the beginning of a card? Ugh.
ReplyDeleteThe finished product here is beautiful. Tell your perfectionist to lighten up! LOL
Hugs!
I love the sentiment in the heart- the colors are very elegant!!! Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteElegant and classy! I hate those stinkin'smudges but I don't usually notice mine until I'm posting it!
