A Wavy Swap

Welcome

I trust you are all well - New Zealand is on the verge of a complete, at this point four week, lock down, starting Wednesday.  Due to my age, and my old friend asthma, I was self isolating, starting this week - now it is required of me - a bit scary, especially as it means I see very little of my family, and I am really going to miss that as we are close, both geographically and emotionally.

This card was made for a small Kiwi group I am in that swaps a card a month, made to a challenge one of the members sets.  This month the challenge was to make a card with a recessed panel.

I used some paper from the Kaiserkraft pad Summer Splash for the recessed panel, and added some silver glitter paper, cut with my very old wavy edged scissors, to the edges of the recessed area.

I also embossed the top layer with an unmarked circles embossing folder - no, not from China, I just didn't keep the packaging or mark the folder :).  I used the circles and the wavy edge to accentuate the sea theme of the paper.

The feature at the tip of the recess is a couple of toppers from the pad, some bakers twine and ribbon from my stash, and partially held together with a white brad.

The sentiment was also a topper, and all the toppers were liberally winked with a clear WoS pen..

The inside was finished with a narrow strip of the patterned paper.

  6. Maxine, first I am sending you healthy hugs because you won't catch anything this way! So sorry that you have to isolate yourself from family physically. I like what our pastor says. He doesn't like the word social distancing because we all need one another but he likes Physical distancing. I am glad you are being safe and hopefully, this will all be over soon. I am sure we are all going to be a bunch of huggers when the danger passes. I love your card! I love the recessed design and the added texture with the embossing.

  7. It's a beautiful card, Maxine. Such great details!

We're in a "shelter in place" quarantine in the state of Illinois, but still allowed to go out for groceries or take walks, but not meet with anyone. I'm thankful we live in a time of the internet so we can connect that way. My siblings and dad all live in Germany (I'm in the United States) and I am used to mostly connecting with them that way, but this situation means we cannot visit this summer (it was a plan for this year's summer vacation).
Hang in there and be sure to keep safe!

and specially beautiful made for the topic of a recessed panel!

Stay healthy, self isolation sounds scary but good you have your art and I think you can stay with friends and family via phone.

    Blessings my friend!

  11. A well thought out theme and pretty colours for the embellishments. And of course a bit of sparkle. It makes me think of the sun shining on the water down at the seafront. Kate x

  13. Hi Maxine, a super card, love the wave patterned paper with the embossed circles, I have a few mystery products in my stash too. I hope your isolation is of a limited time and that you get to see your family soon, I am only leaving home for necessary medical appointments and a supermarket run once a week. Have a wonderful week.. Megan

  19. Beautiful card Maxine- a fun reveal of paper and shimmer! Yes, it is pretty strange to be isolating in place, but if it keeps us safe, I am good with it! Sounds as if you have plenty to do with your gardening and all to keep you busy!
