D'vine Swirls and Waves

The inspiration for my card came from the words of the scripture, and I created a background reminiscent of  'waters covering the sea'

I used the D'vine swirls EF to create a monoprint using Brilliance Platinum Planet ink

The scripture, available as a freebie over at Word Art Wednesday, was printed and cut using a stitched rectangle, and sponged with Tumbled Glass DI

The finish was to layer blue organza and silver ribbons across the lower part pf the card, and topped with a bow.

The inside was decorated with a piece of washi tape

Classic Crayon and Gold Car

I was going to preface this post with a few photos of a two week trip I recently took to the South Island 

(of New Zealand), but my phone camera and my computer are not cooperating and I cannot seem to download them to share.... I will have to talk nicely to my son in law.... 

I will say I had a wonderful time and have some awesome photos to share once I can get them downloaded.

This is another melted wax crayon card - it was the first one I made using the technique

I used the back of a piece of card that I had previously printed on, and did not need... being thrifty with my supplies, I repurposed it - not the best idea as the melted crayon made the card translucent, and the print did show through under the light yellow coloured centre. 

A strategically placed gold die cut disguised it nicely! (The die was a magazine freebie)

I loved the rough texture on this background, and as I had this in mind when I made it, I did not try to smooth it off. 

The card was made for a 'seventy something' gent, so the second part of the sentiment seemed rather appropriate.  

Both parts are from another magazine freebie, and were embossed using WOW glitter gold ep.

The inside was finished with a wee snippet of the gold paper that I had used for the die cut.

Interference Inks and Scripture

My kitchen is a shambles, but as a friend once said, you can't make an omelette without breaking an egg!

Last week's Word Art Wednesday Challenge is sponsored by DRS.

As I don't have any of their products, I used a background technique to feature the scripture, which is available free from the challenge site.

I used interference inks,  Opalite brand, over shiny black card. Unfortunately I am nearly out of the card, so cut the base of the piece to 'stretch' it.

I mounted the scripture panel over the main piece.

Love the marbled  look of the inks, and the sheen of them, over the black.

As there were no more scraps, I  decorated the inside with Washi tape.

Melted Rainbow...

Life has been busy... I am trying to make the most of the last few weeks of summer.

  Add in packing up the kitchen ready for alterations, and you can understand my absence both over the past week, and the coming weeks too!

I was inspired by two things in the making of this card - the first was a challenge to use a rainbow, the second was a technique video by Natasha Foote

I love the vibrant colours of the melted wax crayons, and left my background fairly organic, without smoothing it out very much.

The flowers were cut with a gifted, unmarked die from a snippet of  paper - it was just big enough to get the two flowers by going off the edge.  The flowers and the greeting had several layers of WoS applied, and the flowers were finished with a clear rhinestone in the centre of each.

A trimming off the edge of the background decorated the inside.

WAW Scripture and a Dragon Fly

Today marks the start of another challenge at Word Art Wednesday, 

this time sponsored by Seth Apter  Design , with a $25 voucher for the winner.

This was quite a quick card to make - I started with some dp, a long hoarded stored scrap. After looking at the colours on the printed edge, I added some extra DI in Tea Dye and Vintage Photo where I had trimmed it. .

I die cut and sponged scripture, and then moved it around the card with the green vellum Seth Apter die cut until I was happy with the design.

The dragonfly was cut from card sponged with C.P inks, - lemoncello, rouge and aquatini, and I then added some mini bling down the back.

The die was an unmarked one given to me by a friend. 

The inside was finished with another dragonfly, glued to the left side of the liner.
