Welcome
I don't often paper piece my images, but I did on this CAS birthday card, and love the results!!
The image is from Simos Says - Follow the Rainbows
The sentiment (one of my originals) was gold embossed using WOW Rich Gold Sparkle EP
You can see the raindrops on this shot, which I added Glossy Accents to.
I also accented the paper piecing with pencil shading
WoS was used on the umbrella as whole, to give the impression of it glistening from the rain.
The inside was finished with a strip of the metallic paper that I used to layer the image over.

ReplyDeleteHi Maxine , long time no visit sorry . Have not tried paper piecing for ages so thanks for the inspiration with your adorable rainy day card .I must have been away from blogging longer than I thought as I could not work out what Wos stood for LOL .great look on the umbrella though . love the card .
ReplyDeleteMaxine, I love stamps with umbrellas in them - so of course I love this woman. Such a pretty birthday card!
ReplyDeleteSo beautifully done Maxine, it's one of my favourite techniques I have to confess and I love the image and clean CAS design.

I think paper piecing is an excellent technique as it can really add something special to a card as you have so ably demonstrated here. I love your umbrella and her pretty green outfit. Excellent use of extra little touches to enhance the effect, well done. Thanks too for joining us at we love Chocolate Baroque xx
ReplyDeleteMaxine: I so admire your willingness to try new techniques and products! The ways you made the card to glisten and sparkle are terrific! Pretty card!

fabulous Maxine. Love the paper pieced umbrella and it's sparkle
ReplyDeleteThat's lovely. You can't beat a bright umbrella on a rainy-day. I paper piece sometimes but I am not as good at putting it together as you are. (It reminds me of a challenge I entered a good while ago where one of the challenges was to use paper piercing, and half the entries had read it wrong and did paper piecing!) I hope the sun is shining for you. Kate x
ReplyDeleteA super card Maxine, a lovely stamp and great paper piecing.

Lovely CAS design, Maxine! The paper piecing is perfect for this image and the shimmery border is perfect.
ReplyDeleteWonderful card Maxine - this is exactly what I look for when thinking which entries would inspire our Playmates to do something similar. Just perfect paper piecing and I do love that you also did a bit of shading on the umbrella. I'm very intrigued by what looks like a lovely drop of rain on the umbrella itself - it keep drawing my eye to it and really is a lovely little touch. Not sure if it's glossy accents or a clear domed gem - but it's fascinated me since I spotted this card the other day!

This card is so bright, despite the rain, and it gives one a happy feeling. What a lot of different things you have done within this one card and they all work so beautifully. I think it is lovely but I bet it is even better in real life when you can see the raindrops (great idea to use Glossy Accents) and the sheen on the umbrella.
ReplyDeleteFabulous!
