Welcome
My friend and I were having fun with our cardmaking recently, and she asked how to use vellum, as she had recently bought some... So the first technique we tried was to mute, or quieten, some vivid paper
I supplied some papers from a calendar - this one has the 'feel' of the Pacific Islands, and was really rather big, bold and bright. I started by selecting the section of the page I wanted to use, and some red card to use as a base.
I then trimmed the vellum to size, allowing enough for a fold to be able to attach it to the back of the tent fold card base
Although it was a standard vellum, if you are careful and keep the heat gun moving, you can heat emboss on it, so I used this old stamp from Stampendous and embossed it using Mermaid Tail EP by Brutus Monro
I then finished the inside with a piece of white card and a trimming from the patterned paper, but forgot to photograph it!

The sentiment stamp is at least 10 years old

Vellum always gives such a pretty finish as you card proves Maxine.

Lovely effect Maxine. I often forget to use vellum. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLove the vivid colors of your paper but, using the Vellum was a great idea, especially stamping that beautiful sentiment on top, you heat embossed it perfectly.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing with us at RETRO RUBBER.
Stay healthy and safe.

Awesome way to mute that busy background. And a great sentiment.
ReplyDeleteVellum really lets your beautiful sentiment take center stage.

Absolutely stunning arty card, xx
ReplyDeleteThat was a great lesson for her, Maxine, and for us! I love how your card turned out and the way you embossed the beautiful sediment on the vellum front! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteWell that is a different idea Maxine. Some papers are rather'loud'. That is one of my favorite text quotes too. Kate x
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas have gelled together to make a beautiful card! Lovely verse prayer that is extra special with the heat embossing. Terrific card mixing bold print, vellum, and Scripture sentiment! --Becca

ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Maxine and a great way to use those pretty calendar pages as well as mute the bright or bold colors and designs. I love how this turned out! I really love the scripture you heat embossed on the vellum, so pretty in that color. Hugs, Brenda

WOW! It amazes me how much a piece of vellum can change a card. This looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great upcycle! Those island prints can be a bit overwhelming, vellum is the perfect way to turn a piece of trash to treasure. Thanks so much for joining us at CRAFT Challenge this week.
ReplyDeleteSuch a good idea to use vellum in this way to muite an otherwise bright piecek of designer paper. Love the huge hibiscus flowers.
ReplyDeleteYou used an old favourite, Swiss Dots, by the look of it to emboss the vellum, great choice. Good tip about embossing a sentiment on Vellum.
Blessings, Neet xx
