Steampunk-esque Birthday

Welcome

Warning : This is a photo heavy post - I  will (try to) keep the words brief....
A belated birthday card made for a steampunk loving friend.

I started with this pink and green painted background which I had embossed in white.  I then 'got stuck' and it has languished for a couple of years in my background box.
The embossing was done through a this circular stencil, made and available in New Zealand

I added over the background some ephemera from a 3/4 Designs pack (since discontinued)

Most are paper prints trimmed out

The balloon is a chipboard piece that I triple embossed in copper ep, then added some paper ephemera to the basket

The bow was made from a strand of deconstructed string, so is quite frizzy, and then I added clear rhinestones dropping down to the sentiment which was embossed on vellum

The inner sentiment gave the birthday greeting, again embossed using copper ep.

I am linking this to:

(Includes embossing, stenciling, watercolour, string, gems)

The heat embossing on the hot air ballon is so rich Maxine, sounds like a perfect card for your friend, copper EP has always been my favourite I think.

Just beautiful Maxine & perfect for a steam punk lover!!! I just adore that copper balloon. Is it cold over your way this morning - I think it is nearly minus 2 here!!! Very frosty & cold & no sign of any sun as yet. xx

I have a friend who loves steampunk, but I'm afraid it is an artform that I struggle to understand. Which makes me glad that we are all different! I hope your friend liked their card.

Hi Maxine, a fabulous Steam Punk card, love the copper embossing on the hot air balloon, I live in an area with a number of 'alternative' people, and the area usually hosts a day long festival Winter Magic, the steam punk community are well received in their amazing outfits. Have a wonderful week... Megan

Maxine, you have a diversified style - you can make very classy cards and have even mastered Steam Punk. I'm impressed!

Super card Maxine. I love that background you made, what gorgeous colours. Such a lovely idea with the hot air balloon proving that with a bit of thought you can come up with lots of things. (still no idea what to do for young man's birthday)
Blessings, Neet xx
