Two from One

While I was house sitting in August, I played with an assortment of Lindy's Mica Powders, and this was the second 'print' off the original, onto a piece of mixed media paper.

I then used a stencil that I had won from Allsorts Challenge over it

I split this down the middle, and made two cards from it

One I mounted on orange cards stock, and then a wonderful rich cream base

The other I mounted against red card stock.  On both cards I embossed the sentiment in gold and mounted it over the coloured base card

Initially the white and yellow ink I used to stencil the flowers was not very clear, 

So I added some gold and white metallic rub, and outlined the petals and centre with matching pens to add to the definition

The inside of both cards has a simple strip of washi tape added.

White Anniversary

I did intend being back before this, but life, and my health, conspired against me.

I am finally back home, and starting to look forward to crafting again - thankfully I had worked ahead and had all but one of my September cards made (but not sent), so I am only a wee bit behind... 

I was able to hand deliver this one, so the recipients received it on time 😊

It really is a snippets card, as the textured front was sitting on my desk with the heart die cut out, so I simply put the last snippet of the card with the gold chocolate wrapper glued to it behind the aperture.

The sentiment is a very old (read discontinued) stamp - it was stamped in purple 

(C.P. Queen for a Day ink) on an hand cut banner,

and mounted  over a snippet of the gold paper that I used to layer the textured panel over.

The base of the card is purple.

I used more snippets of the gold and the textured panel on the inside of the card, and  cut a fishtail to the ends of them to match the sentiment panel

Snippets Galore

A more usual post this time - I was discharged on Friday, but have only just got to my computer today.  Still a few issues to resolve, but nothing serious has been revealed - thankfully.

I made this card some time ago, using bits and bobs that were on my desk

The background was one that I I had made last year, by taking prints off an acrylic block inked with distress oxides - this is a second pull, and resulted in a lovely, soft toned, panel.

The sentiment panel was sparkly gold embossed on a kraft die cut that had been sprayed with a gold mica spray, and 'floating' around on my desk for ages before I used it.

As you can see in the lower corner of the above photo, the butterflies were punched from some dry  embossed gold paper - again a snippet from on my desk

The flowers were cut with a very old S.B set, and layered up in different combinations of the three colours, and secured with a brad I had embossed with the same gold I used on the sentiment.

The assembled panel was adhered over a gold sparkle card layer and then the cream base card. 

I finished the inside with some floral washi tape, using a colour that matched one of the inks on the background panel.

A Change of View

Welcome

A bit of an unexpected change of view...

I have had a few health issues of late, and then everything turned to custard on another front and I have ended up in a bigger hospital in a nearby city... nothing critical, but definitely uncomfortable, and needing to be sorted 

This is the few from my initial room. An isolation room as I had, in the middle of this had, a (false) positive covid test

To the bottom left you can glimpse a corner of the local lake.  Not the best shot as I simply held the phone up and clicked ...

Later that day, after repeated testing, I  was moved to the other side of the ward. 

Featured here  is Mt Pirongia

Looking due south between Pirongia and the tiny hill, on a clear day one can see the central North Island mountains...

This shows the southern end of Hamilton city

From these last three windows we also can watch the rescue helicopters coming and going

For a Little Man

And a warm welcome to my newest follower Hilary Wright, unfortunately I cannot find a blog to link so you and I can visit her - Hilary please contact me if that is what you would like.

I made this for a great-grandson who is turning two shortly.

The background is a one-layer paper napkin/serviette, and unfortunately I didn't quite get it onto the backing card  as straight as I would have liked... 

The sentiment was stamped and white embossed onto a red hand cut banner to match the base card

You can just see some of the texture of the napkin that showed up after gluing

The image was unbranded, but named Tattered Teddy.  I stamped it in Versafine Clair Pinecone ink, and coloured him with pastels/chalks, and popped him up on foam dotes

I decided that the card was rather dull for a little guy, so added Kindy Glitz to the polka dots on the background, and then also added some iridescent shell shaped bling 

I finished the inside with some red striped washi tape.

A heart felt thank  you for all those who expressed their get well wishes - covid itself has not been too bad thanks to some antiviral meds, but a pre-existing chest infection has turned to pneumonia.  I am at home, and on so many meds it's a case of shake me and I will rattle, but I am stable, and I get a daily call from the doctors office, and am well supervised by my daughter. I very energetically spend my days online or knitting....

Slimy Slug....

And a special welcome to my newest follower, a fellow Kiwi, Catherine, who's blog is here.

This card was made for a young lad, who lives on a farm, and I am sure he is familiar with slimy slugs, but probably not purple ones 😄

I started with this 'messy' piece of mixed media paper that I had 'played' with Brushos on nearly 12 months ago - it does have some sparkle in it

The image was one I stamped while house sitting - I coloured it with my Polychromo pencils and fussy cut it - once I had adhered it, the eyes and slime had glossy accents added

The sentiment was stamped, trimmed and brushed with some green ink, and added to the base of the purple card, that I had a scored some lines onto for interest.

The inside had another image from the set added to one corner, and that panel was also brushed with the green ink, as was the lemon layer that I used for the base.

I am sure this wee fellow looks way nicer than the Covid 'bug' I have just tested positive for!! 😦

Last Minute x2 - No Problems...

It's been a rather stressful week - I developed a chest infection, and my grand daughter had ongoing throat and chest issues - the end result is that I ended up antibiotics, as did she, but to top it off the poor girl also has covid again, so we (the family) are all back in isolation.  So far she is the only one affected..

Today is Father's Day here in New Zealand... and late yesterday afternoon my daughter realised she didn't have cards for the occasion, so it was Mum to the rescue, with the help of Mr G***le.

I got two QACAS card made with a couple of print outs..

Two because there was one from the children and one from her.

This one is not so CAS - a layer of printed paper for the background, and another computer printed out, fussy cut and touched with black and silver pens layered over the top of the background

The sentiment was from a magazine set, and I performed surgery to be able to stagger the words across the screen. They were stamped in Catherine Pooler Rouge ink, and the edges of the background piece were wiped over the pad also.

I doodled around the paper, and card one was done... as my son in law is a very 'non frills' person I left the inside plain. 

Card 2 

My daughter saw the image I had selected, and suggested the wording...

I trimmed the image, distressed and brushed the edges with Catherine Pooler Over Coffee ink

I embossed the sentiment (in it's original form) using Espresso Bean ink

The words were computer generated, trimmed out, framed with a brown pen and applied.

I told you these were quick cards.  Thankfully, as this was the first time I have made cards for a week or more - I have mainly been knitting as it's pretty mindless, good when you are feeling below par.

This is another card I made whilst house sitting

The image was unbranded, stamped in Versafine Clair Pine Cone ink, and coloured with 

Polychromo pencils.  I am rather partial to ginger cats, and was thinking of my own boy as I did this, as he loves to 'supervise' me in the garden.

The main panel was sprayed using Lindy's Mica spray - one was Get A Guy Gold, the other was a gold toned green, but I cannot recall the name of it.  It's beautifully sparkly IRL

I edged the image panel and the main panel with an orange ink, and added a chiffon bow to one side of the image panel, and three flat back clear rhinestones

I finished the inside with a trimming of the background paper layered over a piece of the ribbon
