I tried my hand at banners on this card.... 

I am not entirely happy with it - the banners, in retrospect, should have been overlapped further.

All the edges were sponged with Cobblestone ink.

The sentiment was embossed with a denim EP, but for some reason, on the white stripe it speckled white.

 The bakers twine and button finished the card.  

All papers were from the Kaiser Craft Pad After Five.

Salted Trees

Welcome

Sometime ago I made several backgrounds using the salted background technique.  

For this background I used the Tsukineko Rainbow ink pad Cappuccino, and applied it direct to the paper, and then ran the darkest colour across the top to 'fill' the card. 

I then stamped one end of the background with some trees, masking and stamping off to give some dimension.

There was another tree stamped on the opposite end, and a sentiment gold embossed. 

The feature panel was mounted over a cream card sponged with Tea Dye DI, then mounted over a dark brown base.

In the Spotlight

Welcome

I would like to welcome a new follower to my blog - something I will be doing in the future. 

Sid joined my followers recently - he is from England, and his blog is called Harpies Crafty Corner. Sid is a talented crafter and displays work using many different techniques.

This was the second card that I taught at class this month.  Spotlighting is not a new technique, but I must admit it was the first time I had used it.

The stamps I used are from Prickly Pear which I received from Michelle Pearson in a RAK a long time ago, and this is the first time it has seen ink.

I inked it up with espresso ink, stamped the area I wanted to spotlight on a scrap, and then die cut the circle where I wanted the spotlight to be.

I coloured the selected area with prisma coloured pencils - I love these as you can layer and blend the colours to get a really rich finish. The rim of the cornucopia was painted with gold ink from the Delecata golden glitz ink pad.

After stamping the sentiment, I sponged the edges of both the image panel and the base with bamboo shoot ink after rounding the corners.  Before mounting the feature panel, I wound some green bakers twine around one end of it for a touch more colour.

Toby's Teddy

Welcome

We recently had a very special addition to the extended family, and this is the card I am sending his parents.

I started with the white layer and cut three rows of pattern using a S/B edgeability die, off setting the pattern on each row.

The sentiment was clear embossed after stamping with Broken Chins Distress Ink, which I also used to sponge the edges of the white panel.

I then stamped this cute bear from Kiwistamping in espresso ink, coloured him with chalks, fussy cut him and  added the blue rhinestone for his belly button.

I mounted him onto the white layer with foam dots near the bottom of the die cuts, added the wee bow and mounted the whole over the blue base card.

Charming Lillies

Today I am sharing another post for the CCC Digi Creations, where our sponsor this fortnight is

 Delicious Doodles

 

I chose this lovely Lily and Butterfly image to work with for challenge #7 which is Use a Charm or Pin with a digi image.

After colouring the image with Prisma coloured pencils, I fussy cut it and mounted  it on foam tape over a piece of paper that I had chalked clouds onto, and had randomly stamped with the sentiment.

To add a touch of pizzazz I touched the centre of the petals and the edge of the butterfly wings with Ice Stickles.

The charm was tied onto a narrow ribbon that was mounted over a wider, darker one.

Some confetti stars were added as a final detail.

King of his Patch

Welcome.

I have been waiting to blog this for sometime, but could not until it was given to the recipient.

The image is one from the Graphics Fairy, who is most generous with the free  digital art she shares.

I printed the image off in the size I wanted, and then trimmed it and coloured it, and the background, with chalks.  I then went over the chalk on the rooster with some perfect pearls to add shimmer, blue on the dark feathers and yellow in the breast, although it added a green tinge too.

The sentiments are computer generated - I was also tempted to add, may your day give you something to crow about... but I restrained myself.

I finished the inside with a trimming from patterned paper that I used on the outside.

The main panel was mounted over some patterned paper and I added a few gorgeous dark red pearls, keeping in mind that the recipient prefers less fussy cards.

Faux Silk ATC

Today I got some 'down time' and spent it in the studio - I was preparing for the card class this coming week, and I wanted to teach the Faux Silk Technique, and decided to make an ATC for the project.

The stamps I used are part of a  retired Craft's Meow set - Simply Delightful

The flower image was coloured with inks picked up from an acrylic block, including Delicata Gold ink.

 The stems were stamped with two tones of ink using the

rock and roll technique.

The background was splattered using the red and brown inks from the flower.  

The tissue was then secured over a white card, cut slightly smaller than the 'formal' size of an ATC, that was then mounted on the full sized ATC card (2.5" by 3.5") base of black, which frames the image panel.

The left hand edge had some lace added, up-cycled from the edge of an old doily, a bow that has sat on my desk for months, an assortment of sequins and the ATC was finished.

Zentangling

Welcome 

Just a quick post tonight - I had hoped to blog before this, but DH managed to break an ankle in two places on Sunday and life has been a bit fraught since then.

I made this card on Saturday - I had doodled the zentangled panels while waiting for hospital appointments (for DH) last week!

The sentiment is embossed on a matching die cut.

The zentangles were created inside a line that I had run around inside the die. These are my first 'tangles', and I did them with a black ball point pen as I did not have a fine tipped ink flow type pen.

I also tried some shading with this last tangle.

I am not sure that I will do a lot with zentangling, but the doodling was a good way to fill in time while waiting for appointments.

Feathers, Bling and a Bear - Creative Craft Cottage Challenge

The Creative Craft Cottage challenge this month is a colour palette, a sketch and use a digi.

Here is the sketch and colour palette.

And this is my card.  The digi image is a freebie from Hobbybook.

I coloured him with chalks and mounted him with foam dots over some embossed vellum.

I then used the feather die cuts and feather as the other element in the design, the colours used there were from the palette.

The sentiment was cut from an SB Labels 14 die after embossing the greeting.

Here you can see the dimension in the card, and some of the random bling I added.

Pearls, Poppies and Lace - August CCC Digi Challenge

a Digital image with Pearls and Lace.

 I have used her delightful poppy image for my card.

I coloured it with prisma pencils and blended with baby oil, then fussy cut it.

After adding the microbeads in the centre of the poppies, I mounted it with foam dots over an embossed panel - Birdsong by Cuttlebug/Provocraft

To add some interest to the embossed panel, I sanded the embossing, which changed the colour very slightly as it removed the glazed surface.

After attaching the pearls and lace, I mounted the feature panel over a white card base which I had sponged the edges of in Memento Rocket Red ink.
