Gone to the Dogs

We have had some wet weather here, so that was s great excuse for me to hide in my studio and make some cards for an order I have.

The customer wanted a 'doggie' card, if possible a black labrador - and thanks to Paulette at Create with TLC I found what I needed.

The image I obtained had brown in it, so I chalked over it with black chalks - and much to my delight the sketch lines were visible through the chalks.

I mounted the image on plain card, which had the edges coloured with Viva Decor Inka Gold Paste, embossed the sentiment onto a snippet and shaped it into a tag, which I threaded onto red and gold ribbon, and adhered on a foam dot to give some dimension.

I hope the customer is as happy with this card as I am.

Have I Got a Case of Butterflies on the Brain??

I am enjoying using the goodies that I got in some happy mail from STAMPlorations last week 

The flock of butterflies was made using a stencil using the  Stencil monoprint technique I had read about a few days before

I applied the inks to the back of the stencil, sprayed them and 'plonked' the inked stencil onto the watercolour paper - volia - a wonderful print.  I obviously did not spray as much water on it as the 'tutor' did in the video, but I am happy with the results.

The panel was sprayed with red perfect pearls and some silver shimmer paint, the butterfly was cut and embossed using a sizzex ebmbosslet, and silver sequins and rhinestones added.

The sentiment came from the new release over at STAMPlorations called Fond Expressions and was stamped using espresso ink .

Two corners of the main panel were rounded, and this was then mounted over a deep green card - I am more than happy with this card.

Serendipity Butterfly

I am calling this a serendipity butterfly (card) as several things came together at once to make it possible.

I had seen a challenge to CASE a card, and I wanted to CASE  this card, but did not know quite how I could 'do' it, until a strip of card with  several gelatos blended across it came to light when I was 'sorting' a pile of stuff on my desk with a view to tidying it.

Needless to say it did not get tidied, rather it got used on this card ... I cut it  three narrow strips off it, and had just enough width left to cut the butterfly out.

The strips of colour were offset, and a simple sentiment from a set of stamps I had just received...

and the card was complete.

I toyed with the idea of some paint splatters, but decided not to.

Golden Silhouette

I was rummaging through my dies the other day and discovered this s/b Silhouette die which has languished there for an embarrassingly long time, 

unused - so I put that to rights.

The Silhouette and wreath were cut from a slightly textured gold paper, so I did not emboss at all

The head has this beautiful wee butterfly, which I lifted with tweezers and accented with pearls.

The Fancy Tags Three die was used to cut the sentiment  panel from the same gold paper.

I stamped and gold embossed the sentiment on white card before layering over the tag.

I assembled the die cuts on the centre panel of design paper (from the Prima Fairy Flora pad).

And took the waste from some stick on edges to accent the borders of the panel.  

The final details were the pearls on the sentiment tag.

Pink Sparkles

It's time for another CCC Digi Challenge #23- use a digi and add some sparkle.

Our sponsor is 

I chose the pre - coloured image Chloe with Cupcake - she also comes needing to be coloured.

I sized her to fit this S/B Floral die before printing her out in colour.  I cut, and then sponged ink around the image before removing the die.

I found this lovely bokeh style paper to mount her on, and added a strip of pink glitter card

The sentiment was embossed on the patterned paper using silver hologram ep.

I used the pink sparkle card to cut this butterfly using a sizzex die,

and glue and pink glitter to make the butterfly trail.

Love how this card turned out, and I know a very special young lady who will be receiving it in the near future.

Stencilled Lace

I enjoyed making this card, enhanced by the fact that there are some Starlings in the nesting box in our back yard who think it is spring, not autumn, and they are currently sitting on eggs!!

The image was one I received in a RAK, and  coloured with Prismacolor pencils. I have no idea of the origins of the image. 

(Edited - it is from Create with TLC )

I mounted it over some silver glitter card, then onto a dark blue base card, that I had randomly  stamped some flowers over with Versamark ink.

I had recently purchased a second hand stencil, and decided to use it to make a border  - I found the only way to get a good outcome, was to stipple the colour through it with a fairly coarse,  rigid paintbrush.

The sentiment was embossed using silver holographic power, which echoed the sparkle in the silver paper.

I decorated the inside by stencilling the pattern in blue on the white liner - and promptly forgot to photograph it!!

Black, Gold and Red Anniversary

This is an other card inspired by  'stuff' on my desk..... the stuff being the die cut, which is what I basically started with - the couple that I made the card for are very 'minimalist' in their home, so I wanted this card to reflect their tastes.

The die cut was one from another project that I discarded.  It was glued onto gold paper, and then the edges trimmed back to the die cut. 

The sentiment was gold embossed, which did obliterate some of the detail, unfortunately, in the very detailed 'Happy' stamp.

The wee decal is one that I have not used before, and it is part of a set from the now defunct Layers of Color firm.  Oh how I loved their stamps, and collected them, now to use the ones that are sitting there begging to be inked up!

I was very pleased with this card when I finished it.

I do not know why the colours change in the photographs, but the true colour os the bright red, not the pink tones.

Double and Partial Die Cutting

Welcome

I had fun trying the new technique that is taking the card making world by storm - 

double partial diecutting.

I cut the car from Marianne Creatables, embossed it, then (Partially) cut around it with a S/B Labels 20.

The sentiment was stamped using a very cheap stamp from The Warehouse, purchased years ago,  using a Kaleidacolor pad -  Blue Breeze.

The white panel was mounted over the blue with dimensional tape after adding the striped ribbon, and the card was finished.

Leaves, Script and Vellum

This card is the result of an afternoons fun in my studio

I started by stamping through a stencil, once that was dry I then sponged distress inks over the stamping.

I did not want to smother the colours of the stencilling, so used vellum to 'carry' the embossed sentiment.

I had no dark brown card, so inked the edges of the next layer 

I then die cut the doily in vellum, stamped and embossed the flower and adhered it in the bottom corner.

After assembling the card, I then trimmed the doily to the edge of the card.

The final details were the pearls.

A Coneflower, A Girl and Pearls.

Today the Challenge at CCC Digi Challenge is to use a digi and add pearls, 

and our sponsor is  Karleigh Sue, 

and I used the image Take Time To Smell the Flowers

She was coloured with prismacolor pencils, and grounded with grass. Chalks were used to lightly colour the background a very pale blue.

The base card stock was initially faux-letter printed with a medium green using a floral embossing folder - the ink pad was a wee bit dry and did not show up as intended, so the card was placed back into the folder, lining up the print with the folder design, run through the Cuttlebug, only to discover that it had been de-bossed.  And that is how it was used.  

After layering the image onto the card, using papers from my promise box (I promise one day I will use these),  some strips of Kaisercraft pearls were used for the finishing details.
