A Fancy Fold and Victorian Ladies

Welcome

This is another 'different' fold that I taught recently. I first found it here, and it was linked to the tutorial on this blog. (You have to scroll down for the tutorial).

It makes quite a large card, but folded, it fits in a standard  business envelope.

I started with an A4 piece of recycled card (it has a grey tone to it, with a darker gray fleck).
After making the folds, I stamped the main panel, using this set from Kiwistamping.

The small stamps were used to make a background with London Fog ink.
The ladies were stamped on a snippet of white cardstock and coloured with chalks, fussy cut and adhered, along with some sequins.

As I was teaching this fold, I kept the inner fold embellishment simple with a half doily on either side.

The outermost panels had patterned paper attached, and then a layer of lace, with the footside to the edge so the picot lace edge does not get folded in the envelope.

This is fabulous, Maxine. Yet another technique I've never attempted - the fancy fold. You always create outside the box and are so willing to try new techniques and you do an amazing job at them. That inspires me because I'm such a creature of habit and tend to create the same things all the time. Thanks for sharing this with us. It's so nice to stop by and see your wonderful creations.

Love this unusual fold, and was amazed that it folds flat to fit into a standard business envelope and mail easily. Your Victorian ladies were so pretty; the chalk coloring was a perfect medium to color the designs because it stayed soft & most feminine. Loved the way you did the background stamping too, of the items of a bygone era. Again the lacey doily trims worked just lovely with the image motifs, as did the tiny floral rose dp and that luscious lace. A wonderful card Miz M. I would have loved to be in this class! Wow, this is amazing! I love the Victorian ladies and that fancy fold! I'm not good at fancy folds. I always mess on side and it throws it all off!

Maxine, At first glance the thumbnail made it seem like these two beautiful elegant ladies were dragonflies. ( It also helps to have on my glasses) The fold is quite regal and the fact that the lace stays outside the envelope is quite lovely as well. Thank you so much for sharing your very beautiful art with us this week at Word Art Wednesday on our 184th AGFF Challenge.
Blessings, Carole
