Shadowed Tiles Technique

Welcome

Last month's swap card is still 'in transit', but this month's swap card has arrived!
I will never understand the vagaries of the postal system....

This card was created by stamping a panel with Catherine Pooler's Cottage Garden background stamp in her Queen for a Day ink, and then colouring it with one Faber-Castel polychromo pencil

I then coloured a plain piece of card with the same ink, direct to paper, and cut both panels into 2 cm square blocks, before very carefully offsetting the plain blocks behind the patterned ones, and then adhering them all to the white layer - what a marathon, with a few quick removals enroute - glue is far better for this technique than tape....

The only accents after layering onto the purple base (again white card coloured with the same ink) was the silver ribbon, the silver embossed tag, and some silver rhinestones

and a few dots of silver ink on some of the stamens.

The liner was edged with the purple ink and had silver scotch tape added. Washi tape was added to the envelope.

I have just come back from a wonderful weekend, participating in a needlelace workshop, and will be away with girlfriends for a long weekend this coming weekend, so I won't be around blogland much for a day or so...

I do love this one Maxine. Keeping it monotone has offset the busyness of the stamp and it was a genius idea to add the shadow to the squares. Such a brilliant effect well done. Enjoy your weekend away. I had a weekend away and it has taken me a whole week to catch up! xx

A gorgeous card, I love your colouring of the image, and then cut up into squares and placed onto your card. The small sentiment suits so beautifully. A really lovely card. x
