All Done

Welcome 

Just a quick note to say my surgeon did not stand me up today and all went to plan.

You will have to read this slowly as I am typing it with my left hand and on my phone....  

The right hand has sensation and is starting to move again after the nerve block,  so that's all progress.

I must apologise for not being a frequent visitor to your blogs - I have my date with the surgeon again in this coming Monday - as I am top of the list, I hope he won't stand me up this time 😇
Because of this I have been busy getting the gardens etc all ready to be left until I am recovered enough to pull weeds again!!

This card was made for a keen fisherman's birthday.
I started with brushos on water colour paper, and spritzed them with with water, using a lighter spray than I have done in the past - I was pleased with the outcome.

I then randomly stamped and embossed some seaweed - as I was stamping in Versamark ink, it was very hit and miss, as I could not see where I had been!!  

After heat embossing with rich green ep, the results were most pleasing!!

I cut the top of the paper with wavy edges scissors, to 'match' the torn bottom edge. and embossed the sentiment on the base card in Silver

The fish were stamped and black embossed on a snippet of white card, and then painted in yellow Twinkling H2O's before fussy cutting them and attaching them to the card.

I loved how this card turned out, especially the  brusho background .

Denim for a Teen

I was stuck for a card idea, and was browsing though a magazine I have had for some weeks, (A U.K. magazine Cardmaking and Papercraft Issue173) when I came across this idea for a card, and as I had all the requirements on hand (which does not happen very often) I decided to give it a go. 

The article was entitled Optical Illusions/Tactile Textures, by Carolyne Knott..

I started with some linen textured card, and swiped Chipped Sapphire and Faded Jeans DI across it

as the base 'denim'

After that was dried I used a white pencil for the 'wrinkles' and a gold pen for the stitching

I had no fancy brads for the rivets, so heat embossed bronze over gold split pins instead.

The final detail was the sentiment, embossed with white e.p.

A simple card for a teenage girl who is very much on the go and loves her denim .

A Butterfly with Five P's

For some time I have intended to play over at MrsA's Butterfly Challenge, and this week I have made my card and have it photographed and ready to go!!    

I was inspired by a set of stamps that came with a magazine some time ago, that I have finally inked up, with my markers, and used.

 

I painted the images using the same markers, by wiping some ink onto an acrylic block and picking it up with a wet paintbrush, giving a no-line look.  I loved the result with this pink lily.

The humming bird was painted with blue and green and I then added some purple - the two tail feathers I mixed the blue and green to give some variation of colour

I added this part of the sentiment to the bottom right, and highlighted it with pearls

And added the peach coloured die cut butterfly with a matching pearl over some patterned paper that was a snippet I from a piece of marbled paper, and outlined the edge of the card with a fine purple doodle.

This is the inside, finished with the birthday greeting and another snippet of the marbled paper

The challenge was to use this wheel as our inspiration

I managed everything but the paper piecing.

Sending Sparkling Wishes

I am so glad you have popped in for a visit

I made this card for a swap with Monika who crafts in Germany

I started by stencilling the background (Stencil was Mini Daisy Cluster by Crafter's Workshop) with iridescent medium and Distress Oxide  Wild Honey, which although not immediately obvious, gives a fabulous sheen to the colour.

The die cut comes from a die I received from Shelly as a RAK - brand unknown

I die cut it from a scrap of deep olive card stock, sprayed with Lindy's My Mojito Green, adhered vellum to the back of it, and then adhered it to the card front.

I was so glad the camera picked up the sparkle of both the background and the die cut.

The finishing touch was to add some herring bone ribbon and a bow, and then I added the wee touch of sparkle gold ribbon.  The front panel was mounted over a dark blue base.

A Quilted Birthday

Sometime ago I purchased some Frantic Stamper dies, and I finally got around to using this quilt rectangle  die.

My first cut was of some light cream card for the 'frame',

I then cut it out from five different sheets from the Kaisercraft After Five 6x6 pad (This is an old pad, so may not be available now).  Needless to say I now have lots of pieces to make more cards in these colours.... 

I used a silver embossed paper for the centre, and stamped and silver embossed the sentiment on another snippet, and laid it across the diamond.

The pieced quilt was glued onto a layer of a muted silver card.  I was very thankful I had read only weeks earlier of an experience Mary H had when piecing a paper quilt, when she discovered that the pieces were not interchangeable, as some of the cuts were fractionally different in shape and size, so I was very aware of that and saved myself some heartache!!

The finishing detail was the layered ribbon across the base of the card, as our (New Zealand) card stock is based on the English measurements, which are slightly longer than the USA. 

When I am putting ribbon directly onto a card base like this, I cut a slit in the folds of the card and pop the ribbon through that and adhere it to the inside, and then add a paper liner  to hide the ends of the ribbon.

Lace and Pearls

I love how this card turned out - I wanted to use some wide, broiderie anlgaise lace I had been given.

I started with a card base that was wider than my usual, and made a tent fold. The piece of lace was adhered down both sides, ensuring that the pattern matched on both sides. 

I then chose a snippet of light green paper from a Kaisercraft 6x6 Botanica pad, that was sitting in my off-cuts basket.

I then randomly stamped butterflies (an old Hero Arts Stamp) in Memento Cantaloupe ink on another snippet of cream card, over stamped that with the Scripture from the ODBD Grace's Strength  stamp set in Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink, and then cut and embossed it using a S/B labels 14 die.

To add to the lace on the card I used this tiny Irish Crochet lace doily that I was given in a bundle of 'stuff you may be able to use' from an estate. I added a white flat back pearl to the centre of it.

The sentiment was stamped using a bottle green ink on cream card stock - I rounded the corners and sponged the edges with the same ink, and finished the panel with a string of white seed sized pearls..

The inside was finished with a strip of narrow lace.
