Christmas 2010

Greetings - it is lovely to have you visit again - I do enjoy it when you call by.

This year I have got all my Christmas cards made, but not yet ready to go.. I do need to get my overseas postings done before the 29th, or I will have to pay and arm and a leg to be sure to get them delivered before Christmas...

As I make them in bulk, I tend to do an assembly line production of a reasonably simple card - well that is what I try to do - the simple part does not always work!  The initial design was fine, but then as I worked I realised I had to adapt things along the way as the basic design did need a tweek, and then I started to run out of, or run short, of some of the materials.... and here is the final result, which was  'gussied up' a wee bit  as I adapted it slightly for the

I borrowed the Embossing Folder I used on the white panel, and do not know name of it, but it depicts Christmas Ornaments.
The stamps is from Stamps Happen Inc, and it stamps and embosses well, with all the detail being picked up.

After gold embossing, I filled in the capital letters and star with a gold pen to give some emphasis to the stamping.

This panel was mounted over a couple of gold corners - cut from small square dies from the CB Vintage Corners.

The extra that I added for the challenge was the ribbon and the stars - which did seem to liven the design slightly, but I only had that one piece of ribbon, so this is the only card to have this treatment!!

Thanks for visiting, and be assured, I treasure your comments.
May your day be blessed.

MMSC#74

Hello - I am a wee bit late in blogging this card this week - combine a slight family emergency, internet issues and a gorgeous grand daughter and there have been a few distractions to say the least!!

The image I was given to work with is an adorable wee pup - it is taken from a photo of a pup named Charlie - I have not met him, but he looks a sweetie - and that from a person who is not a dog lover!!  On this card he is dressed for Christmas, but he is also available from Priscilla Styles Store in just the jacket.

I coloured his jacket in the traditional red and green of Christmas, with gold accents. The border of his jacket and the pom pom on his hat had some sparkle added by using some clear Kindy Glitz.  His body was coloured with chalks.

The image was cut out using a Nestabilities lacey circle and then the red and gold metallic cords were woven through the holes. Again these were left over from my embroidery days (I still do some stitching, just not as much or as demanding...)

When I planned this card I had wanted to use some coloured, cuttlebugged panels where the gold panels are, but I don't own the embossing folder I wanted to use, and  could not borrow it, so I compromised by using the slightly textured gold paper instead.

I also had to be inventive when it came to the ribbons, as the sketch suggested buckles, and as I do not own any I used the metallic cords and made bows.  There is a story there too, as again I had to improvise as I do not own a bow-easy, so a kitchen cooking fork was used to get the same sized bows.  (Poor DH sometimes wonders of anything is 'sacred' when it comes to my card making!!)

And here is the finished result with some bling added.
