Humphrey's Animal Antics

Welcome

This fortnight's challenge from CCC Digi Creations is Animal Antics.
I loved this image from our wonderful sponsor Oak Pond Creations.

It reminded me of a wonderful children's book that I own, Humphrey's First Christmas by Carol Heyer.  Humphrey is a camel with serious attitude!!

I coloured both Humphrey and the background with chalks,

Then 'sat' him on a red (with a silver pattern) blanket to ground him.

Love the expression on his face!

I even gave the 'blanket' a fringe.

Although the photo looks as though the sky is light, IRL it is quite dark, hence the stars.
I enjoyed making this card, and hope you have enjoyed it too.

Sunshine Wishes

Welcome

I made this card for a young person who was recovering from surgery, and I wanted to cheer up their day.

I started this with a piece of white card painted with Sparkling H2O's

I then stamped the snail image (from Whippersnapper Designs - which was a RAK from the lovely Michelle  of Inspiration Blooms) with Tuxedo black ink and then water-coloured it.

The corner treatment started with a grosgrain ribbon across the corner, then a narrow sateen ribbon, the flower and a matching sateen ribbon bow.

The sentiment (and the sun and cloud image) are from a retired Craft's Meow set called Sending You Sunshine.

The card was finished with a few pale blue rhinestones after mounting it on a red base.

Sprays, a Mask and a Flower

 Welcome

I would like to welcome a new follower, Dangina Martinez.  She is a wonderful card maker, and I encourage you to pop over to her blog to look at her wonderful work.

I got out to the studio today and had some time to play :-) - time is in fairly short supply at the moment with our enlarged family!!

I started by applying a mask to the card and sprayed it with red pepper and gold shimmer spray to form a centre panel.

I cut out a spiral flower from a dictionary page with a spellbinders die, and coloured it with distress inks before shaping it, and then touching it with some gold paste.  I am really enjoying using these pastes.

I had demolished another project recently, and used the flourishes from that for this card, They had been embossed with TH Green Crackle Embossing.

I used my trusty Kiwistamping stamp for the gold embossed sentiment.

Gone Fishin'

Welcome

I wanted  a fishing theme for this card as it was destined for a keen fisherman.

The image was from... I went to look for this and found a lot of my files have corrupted and I am not sure, but think it came from Graphics Fairy, as she has a good selection of Retro images on her site.

The image was coloured with chalks/pastels, the edges distressed and sponged with Tea Dye DI.

The image panel was mounted over some T.H. Embossed Kraft card, and finished with a sentiment tag and fish charm, before being mounted on the blue base.

Tagging Along

Welcome

Made for the CCC Digi Challenge #12 - use a Digi and a Tag, this tag uses the Angel Petals image from our sponsor Art By Kathryn

I printed her out on watercolour paper and painted her with Twinkling H2O's.

After painting both the image and background, I masked her off and over stamped the background with a script stamp inked with Platinum Planet.

The overall shimmer on the card is fabulous. I then sponged the edges of the watercolour of the paper and mounted onto a fractionally larger black card.

The final touches were the ribbons, one of which I coloured with Broken China DI, and silver cord and three silver stars.

I'm Late, I'm Late.......

Welcome

I am back, and as we adjust to having extended family living with us, it's somewhat shambolic around here :-), subsequently I am late for this posting, and another one which hopefully I will get done tomorrow.

Thankfully I had made this tag for the Creative Craft Cottage Challenge # 29 in advance.  The challenge is an Anything Goes Challenge with a suggested colour palette.  I took two colours from the palette and made a tag.

The white base was covered with tissue paper I had swiped with Bundled Sage D.I. after crumpling it - I Stamped the Eiffel Tower on the tissue, then also rubbed some Gold and Bronze Inka Gold Rub.

A strip of washi tape was added to one side of the tag before I layered it onto the pink backing. A pink die cut sprayed with silver shimmer paint, two tags stamped with Crushed Velvet, some silver braid and rhinestones, some ribbon and it was finished.

I love how this turned out.

Golden Leaves

Welcome

I was inspired to make this card by a challenge which required the use of newsprint.
I also like to have at least one sympathy card 'on hand'.

The sentiment stamp is part of a retired Layers of Color set, designed by Nina Brackett, which I gold embossed.

The leaves were cut with a Sizzix die I have had for years and never used....
I coloured them with various distress inks, using colour dusters. The tips were tapped onto a Versamark pad, then gold embossed, and then some Viva Gold gold and bronze pastes were touched onto them

The final details were the gold sequins and the single line frame.

I may not be around for the next wee while, we are having a massive change in lifestyle and this may not leave much time for blogging in the short term.  I look forward to being back in 'blogland' when life settles down again. :-)
