A Textural Swap Card

Once more time is moving faster than me - not hard for it to do at the moment, thanks to an ambush by a ceramic pig - it fell from a cupboard, skinned my shin and now I am sitting with my leg up... the pig survived unscathed!!  The ultimate irony. 

Today's card was for the small swap group I am in, and the challenge this month was to use three textures... I think I managed... 

I started with a piece of card that I had stamped off a back ground text stamp, then smooshed in 'overspray' of mica powders and paints on my work surface... 

(the faint stamping has not shown in the photos, but it is there :)

I used an old NBUS stencil to stencil the butterflies with gold paint mixed with iridescent medium, but it was not satisfactory at all,  I then sprinkled over sparkly gold embossing powder and heated it - which made the butterflies bubble and puff up - a bonus texture

The flower started as a snippet of white copy paper, brushed with red, orange and yellow inks, die cut and pleated before being drawn up into the flower head.  I used a button for the centre of the flower. The stem was some green cord, with a flat green ribbon twisted around it - the leaves were trimmed out of a snippet of green card

The sentiment was silver embossed onto a snippet of metallic blue card, torn down one edge, then mounted over burlap (ribbon), trimmed to fit.

The final detail was the torn corrugated card with some lace layered over it across the base of the featured panel - the panel was then mounted over a deep green base

The inside was stencilled with the same butterfly stencil using the residual green ink on my 'green' brush.

The envelope was stamped with an old wood mounted stamp, using a kaleidoscope ink pad.

I padded the card front with bubble wrap cut to fit around the flower - I just hope it arrived without being too squashed!

Romance is in the air - still

Thank you for visiting - I am very quiet at the moment as there is a lot going on behind the scenes here, and creativity is somewhat lacking... 

This is my card for the mid-month reminder for We Love Stamping where the theme this month is Romance, and what is more romantic than a newly engaged couple?

I had fun colouring this couple using my Polychromo pencils, and was pleased with the result.

I love her giant 'diamond' on her paw :) (This is one of my very early stamps, think over 20 yrs)

The sentiment is a positively ancient one, that was very cheap - one of my first stamp purchases, and here I have gold embossed it

After colouring I masked off the bears and stamped the hearts (an equally old stamp) with Versa mark ink, the brushed pink perfect pearls over them

A dab of Glossy Accents on their noses for a wee bit of shine - can't let the ring take all the glory

A stipe of gold tape down the inside, to match the gold layering behind the feature panel

And a matching gold stripe on the envelope.

Romance...

The theme this month at We Love Stamping is Romance (there is also an Anything Goes option)

I don't have many heart stamps - three in total, and a few with a heart included, one of the later features on my card today.

I started with a square card - one of a handful and blanks and envelopes I found when unpacking, which worked in my favour when it came to stamping, as I could simply rotate the card to stamp the rose image, and thus form a circle.  I used Memento London Fog ink, and a rose stamp from Stamp Simply

The central image I stamped and embossed, and coloured the central heart with some red paint.

This is a very old stamp (over 20 years) and still one I enjoy using

The inside was simply decorated using some red striped Washi tap

I stamped and painted the rose on the envelope.

I have managed to make a card this week - hopefully I will get another one tomorrow. :)

I wanted to send a card to a friend, and this is what I came up with...

I started with a stamped  image that I was gifted some years ago, and  added some colour in selected spots with my polychromo pencils - 

I darkened the neck feathers so they look like the Sussex breed of hens.

The sentiment saw it's first outing - it's part of a wee set I purchased some years ago by Paper Tray Ink.

I embossed it in white, using an off cut of the red card.  I only had the one piece of red card, so I die cut the layer for the image out of the centre of it, and also the sentiment strip... 

The patterned background is a paper napkin, glued to a white panel.

I used a glue stick, and because of the heat, some came off in lumps, and would not smooth out, so I ran it through the Cuttlebug and it worked wonders!

I coated the tail feathers of the rooster with Wink of Stella, and I think I caught the sparkle in this photo

I finished the inside with some washi tape

And layered two strips of the same washi tape on the envelope.

Colouring Cards

Just a quick post today - I have been lacking in mojo for some time now.  and while unpacking recently I found a box of small colouring cards, and today I relaxed and coloured... 

then mounted the cards.

The mounts have a small stand on the back so they can stand up on a desk or cabinet

these were fun to colour and mount

My polychromo pencils had a good 'workout' - pencil has become on of my favourite colouring mediums

It's good to be back - albeit slowly...

I never did find my other memory stick, which I have used since the move, so I invested in another one and down loaded some shots today...

This was made as a commissioned card, and it was one of a bundle that I made.  Some were recycled card fronts altered and remounted to freshen them up, one even used an offcut of a commercial card that I liked...  I did the big batch, using these shortcuts, as I was anticipating my left arm being 'out of action' for the first part of February - but that (surgery) has now been delayed until March

Enough about me - here is the card..

The feature panel is the 'waste' from another card, that I cannot see that I blogged, so it is likely on the missing memory stick ... the panel was made using patterned washi tape, and the branch cut from it

The washi is part of a co-ordinating set I was gifted at Christmas

The sentiment was stamped, gold embossed and then mounted over a snippet of gold card

The panels were mounted over an embossed background that I had 'coloured' using the direct to paper technique and Golden Glitz ink.  I finished the front with some champagne half pearls.

I finished the inside with some of the washi tape.

Zentangled Flowers

And an especially warm welcome to my newest follower, Pina Mulone.

I have been under the weather with another chest infection, add that to a prolonged spell of (for us) very high temperatures, I have done nothing very much very energetically!

This card was made in response to a challenge in the small (NZ) swap group I am in, where the challenge was to try this technique by Natasha Foote, and fellow New Zealander

I hunted high and low and low for a large, open, floral image, and could not find one, so made do with this old one from Happy Little Stampers, stamping it in opposing corners

When i had finished the zentangling, I water coloured the background, as per the instructions

I was pleased with the results, and decided that a deep red was the appropriate colour for the card base.

I finished the inside slightly differently this time, making it a truly 'reusable' card, following this tutorial, again by Natasha Foote

I decorated the envelope  using the same image, but colouring it with pencil, rather than zentangling it.
