Planning Ahead

Welcome

I don't usually have a stock of Sympathy cards on hand, but decided to make one today - partially as a sample for a card class project, and partially simply to have one to hand should I need one in a hurry.

I started with a blue base, and embossed the sentiment directly onto it.

I then cut a strip of plain card and embossed it with a folder that came in the (English) Cardmaker magazine recently.  I did sponge some slightly darker ink over it to try and emphasise the embossing, but the contrast was lost once the ink dried.

The flower was cut in three layers - the first and last in patterned paper, and the middle one in white.  All layers were sponged with the same ink I used on the embossed panel.

One rather serendipitous detail was the butterfly on the patterned paper on the top half of the card - I had cut all the pieces of paper for the kits, and took this one as it was on the top.
When I was adding the rhinestones, I decided to make the most of this detail and outlined it with a blue glitter pen and added some bling to the body.

  13. This is really beautiful, Maxine, and you are SO GOOD at the embossing. I just started stamping again with my new DT position and I plan to pull out my embossing powders and embossing gun soon, so I will have to see how mine turn out (not as well as yours, I'm guessing) but yours inspire me for sure!
Have a blessed week and thanks so much for sharing.
