Sailing Sympathy

Welcome

I needed a sympathy card in a hurry a few months ago, and this is the result.

I started with the image from STAMPlorations True North Set, and painted it with Twinkling H2O's,

I watercoloured the background with a broad brush, and added some detailing behind the ship, masked the ship and sprayed with silver glimmer spray.

Stamped and silver embossed the sentiment from ODBD Heartfelt Sympathy set

The waves were made by using the reverse side of a scallop cut from Paper Smooches Boarders 2   dies, and the blue card??? paint chips!!!  They make perfect ombre waves.

The edges of the panel were sponged with dark blue ink, and then it was mounted onto dark blue card stock.

What a pretty sympathy card, and the sparkle really shines on the photos. Loving the way you've done the background (I'm not great with H20's...get 'em on way too thick) and also the ripples in the waves. This is a nice ship image too. Great job, Maxine. TFS & Happy wkend.

re yor link..
I am not sure what blogger is doing but once upon a time when you made a link it used to open it up in new window now blogger deems the default setting to be you have to set it every item it seems to me ..
...here is a post I did explaining in this a while back, it is a tad out of date in that mine used to be defaulted to open in new window setting but now I have to change every single one .. this post may help explain a little,

You are too clever by half, Maxine, with those paint chips and the scallop-died waves! I'm not sure what that expression means, now that I type it. I've heard it used for years, but now I need to go look it up because, really, isn't it rather limiting? You are only half again as clever as the next person? Well, shoot, that's doesn't apply here. I think you are more cleverer than the next TEN gals! And the serenity of a sailboat makes a great image for a sympathy card. Hugs, Darnell

That's brilliant Maxine! Love the way you've used the paint strips. Very clever and lovely card design. I've fixed my disaster. Have a look and let me know what you think. The 'new card' is at the bottom of the original post. As you suggested, I covered the side strip with plain paper, which I think looks loads better! Big hugs, Wends x

Wonderful card you have here. Love the embossing! We are blessed that you linked with our Challenge at Word Art Wednesday and inviting you to join us again in our current challenge. Leaving you with the encouragement from God's Word in Romans 15:5-6 which tells us, "May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ." Have a great Memorial Day weekend.

Blessings,
