Playing with Dimension

Welcome

This is a card made a few weeks ago for a friend who lives locally,  so I could hand the card to her and not worry about postage, or getting it crushed in the post.

I love how it all worked out together without a lot of effort - some of the parts were pieces on my desk, and that's always good ...

The flowers were die cut from scraps of patterned paper and sprayed with a mica spray, not that it really showed on the pink flowers, and the leaves were also cut from snippets

The oval layer was a piece of paper I had played with ages ago.  I do remember that after crushing it, I swiped a golden glitz ink pad over it, and above you can just see the glimmer it gave.

This gives an idea of the height of the flowers.
The base layer of green was embossed, but with a folder that is too small for our standard size of card, so I added the ric rac to cover the blank strip, which also echoed the edge of the die cut yellow layer.
The sentiment is from a Dark Room Door set, and the panel edges were swiped with yellow ink.

A few rhinestones in the centers of the flowers, and also around the flowers, and a foil cut butterfly were the finishing details.

Maxine, your flowers are gorgeous, as is your card. I'm sure your friend was thrilled when you hand-delivered it!

This is gorgeous Maxine. Definitely the type not to be posted! Great idea to add the ric-rac piece to hide the shortfall of the folder. I always wonder why they make the folders just that little bit too short when the width is perfect! Great idea to use up some bits and pieces for the smaller elements. Thank you for entering the Anything Goes Challenge at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends.

Such a sweet card, Maxine. I really like the roses with their shimmer and the crushed yellow paper. I used to do that too, many years ago.

Hope you are well.

So happy to see you blog,
Monica

OooooOOoo look at those speckled, inky flowers. They sure know how to make a dramatic entrance! Also - I chuckled pretty hard at your comment on my blog, talking about not being able to find anything in your craft room now that it's organized. I feel the exact same way!

What a beautiful card Maxine! I love how well your rolled flowers came out, don't you just love making them?! The to short embossing folder, well we would have never been the wiser if you had not told us, what a great way to make it look as though it was supposed to be like that. I do love the colors in this card and happy you could hand deliver this one as I would hate see those beautiful flowers squashed! Hugs, Brenda

Hi Maxine, a stunning card, love the flowers and the sparkle, Darkroom door stamps are great, I've been poking around their website in the last few days. I think some of my favourite and in depth cards go to people nearest as it can be hand delivered. Have a wonderful week.. Megan

oooooooohhh…..I just LOVE a pretty rolled flower. These are gorgeous, Maxine. I've done something similar with wool felt, but I've never tried this with colored paper as you've done. It's not only dimensional, but give such a great texture and layers to your sweet card.
Happy crafting!
Hugs,
Karen
